I was just adding Sage Monarch to my reading list and saw that the picture given was from Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. Is it just because novels with pictures get more views in general?
There's like three different novels with god of war 3 as the cover so nothing surprising here... Also desolate era and some other apocalypse survival novel also share the same cover with that snake if I remember correctly...
There are tons of such novels. I've seen Assassin's Creed for Assassin Reborn, Shokugeki no Souma for some food novel, among several others. And copyright thingy in China is also difficult with that as well
Hahaha yeah, I'm always itchy every time I saw novels with blatantly rip-off cover image. So those works with crappy doodles are still better
The picture is just cleaned up without any text. Google Curse of Darkness and then look at Sage Monarch
Tbh. i find it a really bad taste picking up a random picture that actually have nothing to do with your actual novel and say its the cover for your stuff, the author already loses points with me there
I’m sure there are some that say aren’t their covers, at least in WN Originals, In CNs I’m always doubtful of their cover, doesn’t always look like Art they’ve drawn or something
Apparently from what I've heard if a novel gets relatively popular and the author hasn't gotten a cover for it, the staff will make one of those"messes" and slap it on
I don't know how book covers work in the Chinese publishing industry, but this doesn't surprise me. Even in the English-language publishing world it's not uncommon for authors to have no control on what gets used as a book cover. I've even heard of cases where the writer didn't even get to control what went on the subtitle of his book.
