Most novels i have dropped are because of them being l8cked away behind paywall (QI).
And i don't bother finding a decent mtl, or an agregator site with berable amounts of adds.

    Racism and extreme nationalism.

I drop right away no use wasting my time.
I get it that some certain people feel that they are superior but why try so hard to prove it in an amateur web novel...

Mainly because 'Plot went bad'. To a lesser extent, because I simply lose interest, or it become boring.

    -Sudden harem
-Plot getting repetitive (MC gets to some plane of existence -> face-slap galore -> discovers treasure -> get stronger -> kill the evil god in that plane -> ascend to a higher plane of existence-> Back to square one)
    -No character development whatsoever
-Just endless list of skills getting acquired by the MC. Even the plot turned into skill gathering plot
-No tension (I hate most of the slow-life novels for this)

I would try read those novel first ten chapters, if it's good on my taste then I would continue, if stories are not my taste or the stories gone downhill then I will stop reading it :cookie::blobowoevil_horns:

I forgot the title of the original novel I used to read, I'm halfway through the current updates at that time when suddenly I realized I've fallen into a "Gay trap"(no offense).
The male side characters were around 16-20 of age and they're attracted to the mc even when they were young(according to their povs).

It's usually a combination of things for me. A better story has more leeway before the drop.
-The story is generic and/or isn't going anywhere.
-The story does something that I don't like, like NTR or yaoi
-The story integrity is compromised, say, plotholes the size of Jupiter or liberal use of handwavium or plot armor.
-Something is done wrong with characters. Mistreatment, annoying traits or neglecting too much the ones I want to read about.
-Nationalism. It doesn't matter which nation/race it glorifies, there is no place for it in escapism.
-Sometimes the translator's site is just too annoying to use or need to hop through too many loops.

Where's the 'you can summarize the whole chapter in a paragraph filler' and it goes on the whole arc..

Another is where the setting didn't manage to create the world it seems to need for the plot or too small for the story. It becomes uninteresting to read.

I dropped a novel I liked, just from the BS translator drama.

e.g. someone didn't kiss my ass, so I'll release the chapter in another week.

If I got to add a few that are missing in the list and made me drop a novel, I'll say : "A new translator took over the novel, and is proudly releasing an unreadable brain bleeding MTL" and "The translator put so many anti-copy shenanigans on it's chapters that I can't read the novel confortably anymore"...

[Edit] : I also found once a background bitcoin mining script on a translation website, I never read any of their translations there again.

I drop a novel because its character change flipping like a pancake on a hot stove. I'm looking at you non-popular JP webnovel. :blobspy:

The plot went bad because the latest plot twist actually came out of nowhere and ruined the story.

It's nice of you to make a multiple answers poll

number one reason is Idiot MCs. i can handle hot tempered and impulsive but when they're supposed to be in the 20 and have the IQ of a 10 year old i tend to drop.
also when the story goes takes a sudden turn from action/mystery/horror and decides to become a romantic comedy out of nowhere (especially since the romance is mostly done very badly). if i wanted a romance novel i would have picked one with romance in the tags.
