I feel like the novel would be best without much focus on romance looking at the style honestly. Plus there really hasn't been any characters that one would consider love interests

For bl between any side chars, sure ok. For the mc? Not needed, if anything, it doesn't match the focus or direction of the story. By this, I mean romance in general.

Mc's hope and dreams is the ability to rest and do nothing. Until then nothing can separate him from his vision. Now, what he will be looking for is a caretaker as he devolves into the life of a comatose patient.

Mary: she owes him the most, innocent and already can deal with non active objects
Rosalyn: magician stereotype who is obsessed with learning.
Amiru Ubarr: might as well list a political savy lady
On: strangely the most mature minded girl who understands him. Loli, catgirl who will likely be 20 in cat years in 3 human years.
Witira: not likely, but more aggressive stereotype with scars.
Cage: Drinking buddy
Jungle pricess: not likely, might as well ship Cale x panther.

Choi Han: too likely, Next!
Roan: half probably want him to become a boy, half fantasize a genderbender... Oh crap, can't give them ideas...
Prince Alberu: old married couple, him and Cale currently separated
Toonka: out of pure anarchy let's ship these two

I'm more happier if there's no romance, since sometimes romance messed up the pace, or become turn off.
