I don't like typical CN Novel, the whole premise of offending, training, getting stronger and meeting even stronger foes doesn't really appeal to me. I read quite a lot of them tho, its not like i avoid them, ISSTH is my favorite one atm. JP however has the IFITWMC Syndrome (I feel inferior therefore wimpy MC). You know what i mean. KR is too dark for me, i tried Reincarnator, king of battlefield and Arena, not really my type. The whole revenge or struggle for life thing isn't really for me. So i'm looking for a mix of these 3, maybe indian? Indonesian? North korean literature?
Try searching at royal road. There are plenty of writers there with "western" sense. Or you can also try some of the lighthearted Korean WNs with present day settings.
If Korean is too dark for you try korean VRMMORPGs (as long as you like the genre). But I doubt you'll find one MC that has not to fight with depts
I would suggest awakening. Bas MTL translation but I've seen worse tbh. Chinese MC stuck in a cycle of reincarnation into random bodies for over 1000 years, his latest body is a wimpy Japanese high schooler with a bad home situation. Goes around the world so it's not confined to Japan. Pretty good story and one of the coolest mc's I've come across
