Once you go Yaoi you can’t turn back :blobowoevil: it’s one of the decision I never regret discovering lol
I just find Bl sometimes contains a little more affection than some BG romance. If you like it read it, if it’s not to your taste don’t read. :blobowoevil_horns:

Yes, they keep asking this every 3 weeks or so. Then someone blocks yaoi and they don’t see it on their front page. But they always ask this.

BL has a strong fanbase because it's basically shoujo. Just like GL~

One of the biggest problems in shoujo is that the bad authors make an extremely one-sided relationship with a perfect guy and a completely dumb girl that can't notice obvious things and worries over inexistent problems while the guy she loves is perfect above all else and will always love her no matter what... Shallow and boring characters that totally ruin the novel.

BL and GL are generally more about the couple and both characters tend to be well developed and have a more meaningful relationship. While of course there are excellent shoujos out there with very good characters, it's sadly not the case for every single shoujo out there.

In other words, BL has a lot of translators because it's basically shoujo, and shoujo has a lot of fans~
GL is basically the same too, but has a smaller fanbase due to some idiotic stereotypes from people that never read it... >.>

    2. Guardian 镇魂
    3. The Decade of Deep Love 最爱你的那十年
    4. Heaven Official's Blessing 天官赐福
    5. Rebirth of A Supermodel
    6. Quickly Wear The Face of A Devil
    7. Waiting For You Online

I don’t read GL, not because of the stereotypes, but because of some trauma.
Oof. I clicked on the wrong GL too soon.
    OOF.
Not again, plus, lesbian sex has always confused me..
I’ve read the articles and videos on how it happens... but still confused.
And as someone who likes the male body more than the female one.
GIRLS EVERYWHERE, is not my cup of tea. We already get that enough in the usual straight shoujo.
A lot of shoujo is the super fluffy crap where there’s no male character in site. There’s always little sisters and older sisters and GIRLS EVERYWHERE LIKE HOLY CRAP.
.... I would like a balance in my stories please....,

Well, I think it's kinda silly to judge a whole genre based on one bad experience, but you do you.

... You do realize not all GL is R-18 though, right? If you're not comfortable with reading about sex between girls, you just need to avoid the R-18 stories... Shouldn't be too hard, the majority is not R-18 anyways.

Fair enough about your preference though, I generally don't care much about the gender of the characters of the story I'm reading, but I guess it bothers some people when there is too much of one gender... Well, I do care for the protagonist's gender though, since that generally says a lot about the things they'll worry about and how the story will go~

    cause Yaoi is LIFE!!!

anyway..probably cause the anime market has acknowledge that fujoshi and fudanshi are in almost majority of the fans
also cause LGBT is no longer big issue...i mean there are some strict rules but compare to the olden days, it is more lenient nowadays tbh...

All I can take out of this thread is that 'people' like yaoi, because shoujo and josei (female) protagonists are stupid, incompetent airheads... but the readers still want the non-MC love interest to be a male, since they (the readers) are either female or gay/bi.

I guess this is another point for male MC > female MC.

    You’re actually right lol.
Male MC’s for some reason, are more or less competent.
In a lot of shoujo protagonist novels, the girl is either totally dependent on the guy, or...... or..... or...
There is no actual or. Lol. In most of the shoujo novels, the female protagonist is ALMOST ALWAYS DEPENDENT ON THE GUY.
Even if she starts out some strong independent woman who don’t give no fucks, the moment she “finds” love, she becomes like every other shoujo protagonist. Useless. Soft as jelly. And weak as hell. It’s like all the martial arts she practiced has disappeared from her mind. And she’s always “being” saved. Which is goddamn annoying.

At least in Yaoi, Authors know how to write. They aren’t constituted of gender norms, and break free from all KINDS OF NORMS.
Shoujo authors ALWAYS MAKE THEIR CHARACTERS FOLLOW THE NORMS AND THE STEREOTYPES.
