is it me or the majority of the readers likes to get their mind blown to oblivion when i read utsuro haki to zero
i ended up so happy and felt good that i couldn't predict the out come though i know the route damn it was awesome but then a sudden question came to mind isn't that like mental attacks (psychology ) i have to admit i like this feeling so is it that a reader true nature is masochism ?
prove that you aren't a masochist

Hey, hey ,look at me . If a story could make you feel that deep ,that intensely, it means its a good story more than it means we are just a masochist.
We just like to feel okay. That pure mindblown to bits feeling ,especially because of a character you know inside and out and believe .
Its something you rarely will ever experience IRL because hey can you genuinely root someone / put yourself in their shoes and feel their sadness without a hint of cynical ?
That , my friend is what i call a nirvana .

Too bad this too ,will saturate over time and then you will be numb to it, and start searching for something even more stimulating, more and more ,and thats when youve stepped up to being a sadist

Well at least in my case I can appreciate both surprises and good parts that are mostly predictable. After you have read a decent amount of similar plots, events and characters something out of the norm seems that more special. Thought every plot twist and surprise is a risk as there are quite a few novels that threw itself in the trash bin by trying to be surprising and "mindblow" readers.

hm... I like it when the main character/the evil guy is a total maniac(smart one)
the manic smile and crazed laughter, something along those lines, you know?
    I'm probably crazy.

this does not apply to real life though.

Mind that putting yourself in a character's shoes or truly rooting for them to be happy and get a good ending just to be betrayed by the actual ending afterwards isnt the same as being masochism.
We all want a happy ending because it feels pleasant.
    Thats how all reader is.
But then a story got an outcome that is very far from your expectation. But then you ll also realize.
    Thats how the story is.
Are you saying a story must be predictable for us all to be considered normal?
If anything, its those harem and flawless mc that could do nothing wrong or I FAILED AND LOST EVERYTHING BUT TURNS OUT THERES NO CONSEQUENCE AT ALL TO MY LIFE, I ONLY TURNED INTO BAD BOY TYPE AND THAT MAKES EVEN MORE GIRLS LOVE ME BTW I GOT 300000 TIMES STRONGER THAN WHEN IM DEFEATED TOO and are always surrounded by girls who loved them from the get go that is unrealistic.

Hey, a novel about a crazy or psychotic MC doesn't necessary give mental attacks to the reader, a thrilling novel that challenges you to think and a novel that gives mental attacks are two things completely different, unless the reader of said novels got some fetish or a wild imagination that makes him/her inflect self-damage/mental damage because of their wild imagination.

At first I also thought of myself this way. Because even when I was so sure this story is giving me a painful headache and did make me rather sad for days even, I couldn't stop.

But...when I thought more about it..
I think this is true... Don't think we are 'masochist'. I think the writing is so good that it was so easy for us to be close to those characters and feel what they feel like we are there, instead of them. Like we are them.. ^^

Tbh if you wanted to avoid drama you shouldve just ignored the novel since one of the tags its drama so you should know it was coming for you
