Western-based fantasy works usually use potions and the Chinese cultivation novels tend to rely on pills. Both can achieve the same effects. Body strengthening. Healing. Mana/Qi recovery. Etc. So I am doing this survey purely out of curiosity. Which one do you prefer? Potion or pill? Which one do you think is cooler? Like if you were presented with a choice in an imaginary scenario where you were bestowed with a System and had to choose either Potion-Maker or Pill-Refiner as your support class, which one would you pick?
Pills: Pro -small -light Con -easier to choke on How to use -just swallow(not really cool) Potions: Pro -easier to consume Con -liquid is actually quite heavy -require container How to use -open the container and drink(not so cool) -smash the container on your head and pour it into your injured body part(very cool) Conclusion: potions
Pills definitely make more sense. I mean, why would you want your lifesaving medicine in a fragile glass tube? How the heck do those not all break during combat anyway? Also, way faster to pop a pill in your mouth than chug a potion.
So it's a candy. You bring candy to the battlefield. How are you supposed to look intimidating when you eat candy in the middle of a battle? Potion is better I guess.
Well, I would prefer pills but there is a possibilty of choking on it so my choice would be a potion in this case Imagine this: Dead by choking on a cultivation pill while everyone else is going through heavenly tribulations (that doesn't sound so good does it?)
Seems to imply pills are a marvel of endurance, but they're definitely not. Besides, they keep this shit in storage bags and such, fragility isn't really an issue.
I vote.... suppository /səˈpɒzɪt(ə)ri/ a solid medical preparation in a roughly conical or cylindrical shape, designed to be inserted into the rectum or vagina to dissolve.
Why not both?! Put the pill into the potion before drinking for 3x efficiency! Has any novel used this? I think it has always been one or the other. Stupid narrow minded authors.
Yeah but think about it, a potion is a liquid and must be stored inside an airtight container so it doesn't leak. Then to use it you have to unseal it first before you can drink it. Additionally if you receive a hit the container runs the risk of shattering wasting the potion. A pill on the other hand is a solid so it will not spill or leak if put in a loose container like a satchel or bag. All you have to do is pop it in your mouth, and even if the container is destroyed the pills will not necessarily be harmed. A suppose a pill if struck could break apart, but even then the pieces can still be eaten, unlike a potion which will just soak into whatever it's spilled on.
Well, Pills are a lot more practical. However, with that practicality come some downsides. The only thing stopping you from taking one, is their price. For potions, they might taste vile or whatever, making you wait till the very last point to drink one. Also, it has more flair to drink something terrible to fight on, than to pop a simple pill in y'er mouth. Next point: those pills are small, that makes them handy, yes. But, that also makes them harder to take. Imagine being the one that died because you couldnt find your healing pill... or the one that died because your hands were shaking too much to grab it! Of course, with a potion there is the chance of shaking hands making you spill some, but in the end you'll still be getting enough to survive, most likely. Third point: potions can also be thrown easier. In the middle of battle, your biddy ran out of pills, so you toss him one. Next thing he has to do, is start searching in the mud, because he dropped it. At the same time, that also makes potions easier to be used offensively, in my opinion. Along with the fact that they break. If you toss a pill at your enemy, he might be able to deflect it, or block it easier due to its size. After all, a smaller point of origin leads to an easier time blocking whatever results from it going in one direction. With a potion, those damn things just break and spill all over. And even if your enemy blocks one, you still have a puddle you can maneuver your enemy into.~ (Brought to you by Boredom! Thanks for reading~)
use balms cant choke on this cant spill this cant drop it smell nice if you put a tiger on the lid its look cool you dont have to use mouth to apply this other holes will do... like a stab wound! balms man
I personally believed that in xianxia potions are lower class medicines made by alchemists that are yet unable to extract essence into solid form of pills
Both have ups and downs, pills are easier to carry while potions are easier to use. A potion can be applied directly to the wound prioritizing healing where it is needed, while a pills healing is spread out. A potion can also be split between multiple people which is hard to do with pills. But if you ask what is best, that would be cookies
