Having conversations in chinese? Speaking/conversing with someone good at it would do more than just listening to audio recordings by yourself imo
When your pronunciation is bad, the only way you can excel in it is to practice and practice and practice. Chinese is not really easy, especially if you're learning Cantonese. Ai-chan's ex used to laugh every time Ai-chan tried to practice Cantonese. To this day, people still say Ai-chan's English has a cute accent.
Only way to make practice less hard and long is to get professional services, much better, if expert humans to help
I also hated Chinese to the bone, it is too hard for me, despite having almost godly ( relative to my class ) mastery in English. Although I got A in every test, it basically boiled down to deducing which one would likely to appear within the test. If I can deduce it, I went on and copy those words for hundreds of times to let my muscle memory does the trick. As for the speaking test, I spoke it out loud and fast, reading from the script about tens of times, repeatedly, for my short-term memory to kick in.
^^^^^ If you don’t know anyone, I once saw a phone app that connects you with others for the purpose of practicing language I don’t remember what it was called though
find Chinese friend and talk with them in Chinese as much as possible. Ask them to correct you when you mispronounce stuff
