could be a casual greeting. not returning a greeting is rude won't hurt to greet back, just make it vague to be safe. like a small nod happens to me sometimes. tho the other party is usually a baby tho
Having been there myself I can tell you that the call girls are very forward especially in the evening. So she was probably not one of them like some has commented. Also the ppl there are very polite sp saying hello or good bye is not that unusual. If for instance you stand still and look at a map I kid you not that someone will come forward and ask if you want help (usually it’s because they are helpfull and want to practice speaking english). Also if you go clubbing and girls eyes seems to be almost popping out thats the signal they are interested in you (at least it was the flirt signal two years ago freaked me out at first). Last tip, not sure if it’s still the same but when I was there I was sternly warned from getting serious with any girls since a lot of them are treated poorly and wants to leave and get a green card some where else. Not sure how true it ever was but we did hear from some female friends studying there that bad treatment or at least old fashioned treatment of females was common. All in all have fun dude and if you know japanese cudos to you, since at least my impression was that foreigners were/are very popular over there. Awkward incidence was that all the guys at the bathrooms in clubs would bend over to check our packages, worst incidence was a guy grabbing my groin at the bar and asking for sexy time in the bathroom
You're Japanese? As only natives could be identified as otakus, the rest are weebs. If some female stranger waved at me, and I did not misunderstand. I would be skeptic and be cautious, because reasons. Also... did you seriously just admit that every girl, no matter the species or age, is a serious event for you? I think I understood. I wore my office clothes white shirt and black trouser. This is same as school uniform in japan for males. I might have looked little young, so she might have assumed I am student or University guy and greeted me.
Uhn... Dunno, if I were to share a table with anyone, I usually say "excuse me" before sitting down and say "bye" when I get up or the other person gets up... Just feels like common courtesy to me. I think you're heavily overthinking this.
