As there is literally another disciple in his sect with doing 2 things at once spirit body who gets treated quite well; but he arbitrarily decided he must keep it a secret so he lied to convince them he has a different and arguably superior spirit body, and also to excuse the effects of the time bubble)

After a very long hiatus, a new translator has picked this up. This is great. So... MC seems a bit quick on giving up on the official position. He really does have a special constitution (an upgraded version of doing 2 things at once) and has convinced the sect he has a different one (heavenly intellect constitution). So while he does not meet the spirit pulse requirement, he does meet this requirement.
Oh, I just realised. Every CN MC that are raised by notorious/retired criminals are based on Jiang Xiaoyu (江小魚). Granted it's only a brief mention here in the prologue and a minor plot point later.
I am rereading it from the beginning too and immediately regretting it whn I reached the chapter with the new group translation.
