Short but sweet manga, its an old one now, called Bitter Virgin about a romance in spite of trauma and past abuse. Another oldie but goodie Inuyasha which is a romance anime with plenty of action and the filler arch’s are the only fillers I’ve ever enjoyed in anything I’ve read or seen in anime. Has tear jerker moments. I always thought Toradora! Had a sweet story that just made the ending that much more of a tear jerker. I thought certain parts of Zero no Tsukaima had some moments as well. and sorry I can’t post links I’m too new here...
Gonna try mentioning lesser known (kinda) works Anything by Adachi Mitsuru (cross game, touch, h2) Sports slice of life. Coming of age, family, friendship, love, loss - all framed by the drama and exertion of sports Piano no mori Piano competitions by a kid who had no formal training and takes the classical music world by storm. It gets quite emotional Annarasumanara Short read about societal pressure and being true to oneself. I didn't cry but got emotional. Cat Street Coming of age story following this group of friends that attend a "free school" because they're misfits everywhere else, and they learn to heal and follow their dreams. MC was a talented child actress who got burned out and completely retreated from the world. Spirit Circle A recounting of the fated encounters between two individuals as they meet time and again in multiple reincarnations across different time periods/worlds. Some of the lives are quite tragic. A Game To Make Him Fall (as well as the companion piece) Novel. Oneshots. Tearjerkers. Summer War Movie. This is more of a happy cry, and some sad. I just got very emotional watching it. Tetsugaku Letra Manga. A dude finds passion in life again after trading his basketball shoes with a girl for her flamenco dancing shoes. He picks it up and life picks up along with it.
Novel Ballad of Ten Thousand Gu (love tragedy and kind of bad ending) Mulberry Song Lament at Changmen Palace Our Second Master (start with tragedy but has a good ending) By The River of Forgetfulness for Seven Lifetimes All You Need Is Kill (or movie version called Edge of Tomorrow but the novel version is a lot better imo)
