I think it's also really easy to form a corrupt organization. A group of people who abide by a certain set of strict ideals, which are in this case evil. That makes them also take evil actions as a whole. It's more difficult with others due to a possible conflict of interests. This is also why evil cults are such easy villains.

did you read the novels? It's obvious the reason. The religion blind the people and use it to fanaticism. Also, it's the better way to control people, if you not do, you will to hell. Don't you want go to hell, right?

    Two points.
    1. religion is outlawed in china so evil religion gets the author brownie points
    2. religion and the westerners that spread it caused a great deal of trouble in China and Asia as a whole throughout history so they have little good history with religion.

Religion is neither evil nor good. It's the people in it.

In truth, all relgiions are evil, saying about the individual but collective, it's said to be an evil necessary cuz the ends justify the ways.

Edit; It's the same thing with political things. It's a mass control tool. The plebs don't need think or question something, the illiminated person knows what is better for you.
Edit2: This is the reason that I like libertarianism. The people are saying nothing, but the logic its. If you have a brain, you are able to find the same sum just by logic thinking.

Because more people have been killed in support of or in protest against religions than on all the world wars combined. Catholics killed off a lot of native civilizations and plundered the middle east in the name of religion (it was really about money), etc.
And religion is one of those divisive issues that almost anyone can relate to as a lot of relations are "us" against "them. And are mostly judgemental as heck.

it's a form of power, and power is and will always be abused for the gains of the unethical. look at mankind's history.
unless done thoroughly, it's a real cliché.

Um. Is there some organization in these novels that isn't evil? That isn't corrupt in some way, at least?

Idk why the religion stands out to you, specifically. Anyone not on the MC's own organization is a villain.

and that's false. don't spread lies
religion is NOT outlawed in china. it just bears no influence on the government decisions or the decisions of the people.
if people choose to put religion before the country they get the rightful treatment you can find on youtube.

Im in a muslim oriented city in western part of china. they pray, they worship (women wearing hijab even). but they put the country first because they know the law

Well, I don't think there's any particular reason for it. Evil or corrupt religion is a global cliche, really. It's a well known fact that boku no pico is required education in catholic seminaries, for example, and all of Protestantism is based on the principle that the old catholic church was corrupt. Western media loves cults, too - novels and games centered around evil cults abound. ... So it's hard to say corrupt religious organizations are some kind of unique CN fetish or anything. -- In fact, I'm surprised you're just talking about CN. Corrupt religions are almost more common in JP webnovels.

Drukpa Kunley's branch of Buddhism is is typically dipicted as the Joyous Sect in CN novels as lecherous Flower Monks who engage in Tantra Techniques seen by Chinese followers of Chan/Zen Buddhism as Sexual Misconduct.

Hence llamas are perceived as heretics and it does not help that during Kublai Khan's Yuan Dynasty he made the Tibetian branch the State Recognised Head of Buddhism.

Cause said authors are mainly non believers or come from extremely secular/non religious countries. For example Japan

Cuz it's easier for the author? I mean like evil organization (religious or secular), arrogant young master, greedy or malicious relatives, etc.... all of em is the framework for mc's antagonist and the author just had to fill it with ease......
