I remember watching some sort of medical show that talked about that shit. Stuff is real messed up the doctor explained it as imagining a pickle inside a sock. When it snaps the pickle part is what breaks, but the sock, the skin is still perfectly intact so it can be hard to tell visually that something is wrong. Of course if you're the guy obviously you don't need visual aid. Still I'm sure there are some hardy bros out there that would try to tough it out, especially if they didn't know dick breaking was a real thing.

It can’t really snap, but too much stress, bending or pulling when you have a boner can make the muscles rupture like any other part of your body (leading to the ‘snap’ she heard). It is supposedly painful as hell and some cases need surgical intervention.
Well, don't want to be nitpicky but. Those are not snap sound. Yeah i agree it can be injured but snapping means it is goes beyond saving.....
