I'm not sure if you're okay with BL but there's a novel called The Earth is Online, where the protag goes through different black towers throughout the country. As he levels up the difficulty also increases.
The Earth is Online. I love this novel and it’s great, it IS BL though, if you are okay with that. If you don’t the. I still recommend it. Cause it’s shounen ai not Yaoi, meaning no sex (unless suggested), romance is fairly slow and it’s mainly plot. So its very good.

That's one I read. Forgot to include that one. Don't mind dungeons as long as there's progress through stages. I've got towers on the mind because I started Second Life Ranker. Reviews for this aren't that great though. I don't think I've ever actually read something with BL. The jp portrayal has always been inherently off putting to me, and it's hard to say that I've read about them from the perspective of other languages either. I dunno how willing I am to give this a shot. Also tagged Yaoi? Wouldn't be surprised if that's wrong though is it?
There is couple of scenes with sexual tension but it’s nothing explicit. There is one sex scene but it’s written ENTIRELY IN METAPHORS. And it’s short so you could totally skip over it. The romance is slow, ml doesn’t join up with mc till later, and they don’t get together till near the end, so you could try it out for the plot first. And yeah, jp BL can be pretty off putting (depending on the story) but I personally really like the couple in this novel. There’s a sense of comrade in arms, and companionship between the two so I think it’s good. So give it a try maybe? I can promise you will at least not get put off by the BL from the get go.
He only has his eyes on one girl though, the others are just surrounding him due to some reason. Well, the story is good though
