Most likely your computer/phone got infested by a malware so the best you can do is uninstall chrome as @DocB said and also check if you installed something prior to that happening

Do a virus/malware scan, if that doesn't work update chrome, if that doesn't work uninstall then reinstall chrome.

You can try running chrome incognito. I'm assuming you are on windows so open the run dialog and put in "chrome -incognito" it should disable all extensions if it works you can try to fix it by removing any new extensions. If doesn't work then I would recommend dumping chrome for some other browser that does a better job of handling extensions and as DocB recommended protect yourself by managing which scripts can run.

Wouldn't that not redirect but just open an new tab? I tested it on version 74.0.3729.169 and that is what happened.

It's either that your browser has been hijacked or something in the settings has been set up wrong.

Uninstall chrome, reinstall it. If the problem persists, scan computer for malware.

If you're having the issue of help or support tabs popping up in both Edge and Chrome, you might want to try cleaning your keyboard or using a different keyboard. F1 causes the help page to come up in both of those browsers. If your F1 key is stuck or faulty, that might be causing your issue.

The best way to find out is to install Firefox, like you mentioned you were doing. F1 doesn't cause that behavior in Firefox, so if no help tabs appear in Firefox, but the behavior persists on Edge and Chrome, it's almost certainly your keyboard. Another thing you can do is to open up a game and rebind an action to F1. Then, sit back and see if the action happens spontaneously in-game. If it does, you have a sticky F1 key.

Do you have any macros or key rebinds? If you have F1 included in a macro or have rebound another key on your keyboard to F1, it could also cause the same effect, assuming you have the macro running or are hitting the rebound key on your keyboard. If neither of those things is true, it's probably your keyboard.

I had the same problem a while ago.. but i forgot what i did to make it stop..
I think i tinkered something in the default browser settings, blocked a lot of the redirected sites & clear chache,etc..
