Its really hard to be up to date on ever evolving internet slang when you just spent like 6 months in a foreign country not talking since you only spoke english and they thought if they only babbled italian you would learn italian by osmosis. Lurking is not, in fact, a plant.
Immersion is the best way to learn a language because you will have more opportunities to practice what you learn.... did you take italian classes or something? Lurking is not a plant? What do you mean? >_> Spy or foliage?
Spent nearly 10 years in Sweden and 3 of them taking the state run language courses trying to learn swedish. I think I can ask where the toilet is, and a few other somewhat useful phrases including, "I dont speak much swedish, do you speak english?" To this day I still can't speak or hear the difference between å, ö, ä...
