Somewhere in feb or mar I wrote a post about my car accident. I thought I’ll write an update just trying to get things off my chest. My insurance took this case to arbitration and won property damage with the other party 100% at fault. But it applies only to property damage and does not apply to the liability of the other insurance. I did get my deductible back from my insurance and could be getting my rental fee reimburse from the other company, but they would not pay my 3k medical fee or offer a pain and suffering settlement. My injury is probably not huge compare to many case out there, however, my back haven’t feel the same after the accident. I don’t know what kind of long term affect I could have or if this is just temporary as I am seeing a chiropractor regularly for treatment. I thought to pursue this in court, but why the bother? I’m gonna go through a lengthy court battle to cover 3k medical fee that my 25k insurance medpay could easily cover? I could maybe demand a small settlement fee for pain and suffering or whatever the case in court —but the long court battle for that? I feel I am wrong, but this battle is like I’m trying to plant vegetables on super dried land. This is a battle that I would need to go dig up receipts after receipts to prove I deserve justice. It would be hard to get these receipts and I feel my case just doesn’t have enough evidences to say I deserve compensation. I don’t need to stress myself over this. But at the same time I feel so much injustice. Guess I should be happy no strike on my driving record, my deductible is reimbursed, and my rental fee would most likely be reimbursed too. But personally, I’m still not happy. I need to release some steam somehow. Okay—some good music.
Get some body exercise and consume good diet. Hopefully your body will fix itself without much complications. Back pain huh. If it was around here, it'll be easy to get free to cheap checkup... but idk about you.
This seems worrying. Especially in the longer term. It might still be worth it to pursue repayment of medical costs if you ended up with a long-term issue. Does going to a chiropractor actually solve the underlying issue, or does it just lessen the pain? I'd have it checked by an actual specialist just to be sure because your back is no laughing stock.
Man go to the doctor for your back, just to be certain. Chiropractor is always risky business. I would go there once every year but wouldn’t use it for treatment What receipts? Sorry I’m late lol
Back injuries are not something to take lightly. I would go to a specialist. General practitioners just dont have the knowledge to properly identify or diagnose a back injury.
It just reduce the pain. The ache does come back. My middle back is quite stiff and it does not ever do this. So idk. Maybe I’ll go in for an X-ray or some kind of check up to asset whether it will be long term or short term. But getting in to see a doctor takes long time. Doctor really book up. CA, USA. Check up could cost 100-200, depending on provider. I have health insurance, but each time it would cost me 15 for general physician and 25 for specialist. I was told chiropractor is more holistic than medicines. However that vary. Moving bones could cause stroke or other existing alignment.
A few years ago a lady was speeding on an icy road and blew past a stop sign because she couldn't stop in time. My brother was driving normally, but due to how icy it was on that road he was also unable to stop at the sudden obstacle that popped out in front of him. They had a collision and the insurance company quickly decided that my brother was at fault (this lady reflexively pulled her E-break instead of stopping, and the whole thing was her fault) and closed the case by raising my brothers insurence to over $7000 a year. He's a student and can't pay that so he doesn't drive much anymore. Now, a few years later this lady tried to sue him. She sent an agent to our door (my brother hasn't lived with us for years and we live practically in the middle of nowhere) and set up some court dates. Luckily my brother had a nice memory of the incident and was able to recount a much better version of what happened, the lady slipped up about he poor handling of it, and the court determined it was all her fault, so her case failed and it was mostly just a waste of time. My brother still didn't get his insurance down though...
It's easier here for me since the chiropractor I go to are people I know. Not professional ones, but people who inherited the knowledge. And they will know whether it's time to get a doctor's checkup or do it themselves. Now talking about doctors, you gotta go to people who actually have the skillset and not just some random doctor in the Emergency Room.
this is why you always file your receipts by category in advance. so you are always ready and you could sue them. since they are already 100% liable for the accident. it is already a wind in your favor. +lawyer fees if won would be paid by them
If it takes a long time then I'd book one right now. Your back, your spine, not a joke. I'm not a doctor but I could imagine there could be long-term effects or problems indirectly caused by the accident you'll only notice later on. When it's too late. Did you not get checked up after the accident? Or did you not have any pain at that moment? Wouldn't be the first time doctors miss something right after an accident though. I almost left the hospital with one plaster too few once. Like best case there's no problem at all, but the words "worst case" and "spine" really don't belong in one sentence.
seeing a back specialist is important so they can identify the injury and treat it (if it's treatable). that being said, after i was done with PT the specialist actually recommended a chiropractor for me and i went for 2-3 years before i moved out of state. my back can't be cured but the chiropractor did help with keeping the pain at a manageable level.
Yupper, and I didnt think anything of my injury until about a month after the accident and settlement was finished. I bent over to pick up the corner of a tarp. Seems I found the herniated disc that the general practitioner missed and collapsed when my legs gave out. Fun stuff...
he could afford not to drive, but I can’t. I’m gonna get a dash cam. I’m over these “accident.” Wish we have such doctor around. Apparently, not around here. Most would try to stuff med pills down your throat than actually check your concerns. I had an increased in neck ache, so I was seeing a chiropractor and I got to say my pain has significantly reduced. However my lower back began to stiffen. Turning is doable but when turning to check cars before lane change, I could feel the tightness and pulling of my muscles which isn’t normal. Doesn’t feel that it would be a long term thing, but I can’t say for sure. Must be painful. I don’t know what I would do with my life if I need to be put on disability.
Happened 2004ish... and I seem to do something stupid at least every few years and spend about 2ish weeks on pain killers and icepacks. So yeah, if you think there is something wrong with your back, it really is worth the extra effort to make sure you're not at risk of slipping a disc.
Living with pain is a like torture. It's an invisible symptom that no one else sees and therefore, not always understand you. It affects you physically and mentally, draining you until at times the pain is everything and the only thing you focus on....and you will still be expected to do things and work as you always do. It makes you short and angry, at yourself and everyone around you. Sometimes, people that live in pain become bitter/depressed/suicidal.... Do everything that you can to avoid yourself a lifetime of worry for yourself and those that love you. If you know in yourself that your body is not right yet, keep seeking medical advice until it's cured. You will only ever have this body, so fix it so you can move on to your next adventure. \o/
Exactly. I know people who are constantly in pain and are bitter, but I also know people who are constantly in pain and smile the brightest. Long term care can be a sad place to be working. My internship taught me a lot about myself and what I would rather not do. going to court...stressful. Maybe I’ll save myself the pain and focus on doing things I would enjoy. It would probably take a couple more session, some massage, and acupuncture to loosen the muscle there. It has been five months, roughly, so I’m assuming my spine would be fine.
