My summary: Spoiler - This is a 3 protagonists story of MC, ML and their female friend as they slowly conquer the interstellar world. - MC transmigrated into the future interstellar world with a game system (Melee pole-user). - ML time traveled from 3 centuries in the future. He was a S level tech criminal - Using ML's future knowledge (books), MC and ML recruits the female protag, who's supposed to become one of the strongest Generals of the era. - the story vaguely has these arcs: Beginning - Military academy - Military striker force (War) - Fugitives - Rebellion - MC is the mech fighter, ML is tech, female protag is Commander. From the academy until later on they are the Iron Triangle in the war. All 3 are equally important and powerful i.e. even though MC has cheat game system, he's not all powerful. - MC and co. eventually lead a slave rebellion and established a new government. MC is the spiritual leader of the rebellion and becomes the Hero of the slaves and icon for freedom. Points I loved: Spoiler - MC is laidback but very badass. He's the type that commits 100% to any task he sets himself on, so when he's fighting or assassinating he's kind of a killing machine. He's so terrifying he's the boogeyman of various powerful military and political leaders. - ML conned MC into marrying him when they first meet. - Well written and varied female characters!!! Female protag and a bunch of others, both good and bad. - Well written and varied characters in general. - you know how in all these future danmei it's always "oh everyone's free to marry any gender now!" but you never see female/female relationships? NOT ANYMORE WITH THIS NOVEL. Not with the female protag, but lesbians exist. - Made me nostalgic for Gundam, with all the mech, politics, and war.

MC's life skills from the game also transferred over - ML has a storage space (future tech) with tons of books etc inside - MC learns the language of the world from ML's books, but his speaking is still bad so ML tells him to just speak less lol - Two months later they hitchhike on the garbage truck -- headed to Uranus - ML leads them to their new future companion, Vivian (third protagonist), in the future known as the strongest female Marshal of this era - ML casually calls her name and gets a shotgun in the chest - ML reveals he's the "tutor" that contacted her - He knows about her life from an autobiography future-her wrote - Currently she's a 13-year-old underground doctor. Well..white lotus is used to describe pure innocent woman, but nowadays it becomes more like a sarcasm instead bcs there are many antagonist characters in novels that pretend to be a white lotus but actually a schemer. Just from your summary, this sounds very tempting, especially the fact that female characters aren't always the 'green tea bitch', 'black-hearted white lotus', or trying to pry into the Main CP relationship...afterall most danmei fans are girls/women, I don't like the idea that all female characters in the novel being idiotic/evil lol... Usually, i don't read interstellar too often, well there are a few novels that fit the list because it doesn't spend too much time on other POV due to political/military drama... if this one isn't too heavy in that regard then for sure worth a read.
I just started reading it. Can you tell me more about MC's system/golden finger? What is the game system really about? What MC should do with the system? What I know...because of the system, MC can make delicious food and have good memory. Btw, I still at chapter 11.
i've had this on my to-read list ever since the spoiler thread showed up... loving it so far~ filling in from 1(?) - 12 - after they find Vivian, they give themselves A-rank status on the Star Net and enter the Star Net to start training - Vivian attends classes like she always wanted to, MC and ML join her by the next day, though MC is so distracted watching ML multitask he doesn't pay much attention - ML takes MC to train in mecha and he sets off a storm in the F-class mecha arena by using a shitty Black Tiger armor and winning all the way till E-class - MC/ML/Vivian make use of MC's cooking ability to open a restaurant on the Star Net to make money; they disguise their appearance and only open for a few hours a day - Meanwhile ML is making some great plot that uses up any money they make - ML sometimes has insomnia at night. He holds MC and hugs him, and is finally able to sleep. In the morning, he decides that he isn't going to let someone else have Gail (MC). Although he hadn't been honest when he first 'married' them together, he now determines that MC is a good catch, and since he liked men anyway..~ - Vivian suggests that the three of them fight group battles in the mecha arena instead. ML takes a ranged class noob mecha armor, Vivian and MC use very mediocre (the one MC uses is aesthetically ugly and blinding) to defeat their opponents. It's decided that Vivian will command their fights in the future - Restaurant is successful, MC suggests opening for breakfast too, ML/Vivian both obviously want to try the food - Next morning, MC starts selling a bunch of breakfasts, and the rules for the shop are established~ breakfast in the morning, then dinner between 7-9PM - They spend the next year fighting in the mecha arena but it's hard to go up in rank. one year later they're only at rank C. even so, they've become legends: Gail, Rank: C, Achievement: 2017 games, 2015 wins, 2 ties, 0 losses. Ulysses, Rank C, Achievement: 1908, 1906, 2, 0. Ann, Rank: C, Achievement: 2873, 2861, 7, 5. - Gail uses his real name for his username (because he didn't know better at the time), Ulysses is ML, and Ann is Vivian. They started off without a team name, then casually named it 'Kite' later on. But the casual name couldn't hide their terrifying achievements, and they even built up a fan following that analyzed their matches~ - One year after they met, they depart for Oswede Academy, the best school in the entire galaxy. (... brb while xiin goes and orders some baozi after reading ch12... ) ... 13 + 14 + 15 + 16 - They travel by real spacecraft; it's Vivian and Gail's first time and they act like country bumpkins and get sneered at by Bunnier Pine, another youth travelling to Oswede, but the kid gets roasted by ML instead He points out that book Bunnier was reading was for primary school kids and his notes were wrong, which hits Bunnier's sore spot because he had actually failed the exam to get into Oswede (because he discovered his father had a mistress and a child outside that was almost his age) and only got in through connections ... - They continue their lifestyle of running the restaurant on the starnet and playing mecha arena matches in the afternoons while traveling towards Ludric, the planet where Oswede is - Vivian & Gail are amazed by the sight of Ludric. ML (his name is Valentine) also looks down; in his time, 200 years later, Ludric had been devastated by human greed and growth. He doesn't think that one or two people can change the course of history, but perhaps if him and Gail can both come to this time period...the end might be different? - For example, Bunnier and Vivian... because of Gail and Valentine's existence, she didn't have much chance to interact with Bunnier, and most likely won't end up in a bad marriage with him in this life, right? - Money is in Gail's hands because he's able to bargain; over the past year Valentine has been programming endlessly and telling Gail to purchase materials... it's probably for building their mecha. - The three of them will live in the same dorm room. Because it's in the future and gender is no longer as important, they're not split by gender. Their last roommate is another girl, Lanfu, who hits on Vivian as soon as she walks in~ Gail thinks that life in this dorm will be very interesting... - Vivian will study command, Valentine is studying tech, and Gail is studying mecha piloting. The three of them had become close of the past year, and knew that they all had no other backgrounds to rely on as well~ Vivian made her ambition to go far very clear to them, which is why she's studying command despite it being something that only people with backing tend to go for. - Lanfu is studying mecha repairs, but her personality is more casual.. Oswede is strict, but she still arrives late to the opening ceremony and gets laughed at. And as they settle in, she manages to change girlfriends every week... - One month in, school drama has already come out.. Bunnier didn't make it a big deal, but he let it known that he didn't like Vivian. And since he has backing and Vivian and her friends didn't... they were being ostracised. n fact, many ordinary students in Oswede had been forced to quit after being picked on and having their credits deducted by teachers. Valentine doesn't care too much about it... he wasn't good to provoke. - Valentine is getting picked on even by the teacher, Leo Vibran.. he has a patient, vindictive genius personality... where should he start his revenge from? - Gail meanwhile also uses badly matched mecha armor to 'club' his opponent to death... - The teacher, Vanessa, changes another opponent for Gail. Meanwhile, the rest of the students start to wonder if Gail is the same Gail from the 'kite' team, then decide that no... can't be, right? - Next student, Kobe, uses a dangerous move, and Vanessa fails him on the spot (YES! a non-biased teacher!) but Gail dodges and Kobe gets beat up too.. people's views begin to change. Gail also decides that he's not going to let himself get bullied!
17 + 18 - Gail leaves class as soon as its over, choosing to walk to Valentine's classroom rather than take the suspension cars - Kobe is related to the dean of the school... he senses a deeper plot and intrigue than just Bunnier throwing around his power - He runs into Vivian, then as they're chatting, they get actually attacked by Kobe and his friends! Gail pushes Vivian out of the way but is hurt, Vivian gives him first aid... Kobe and his friends (with powerful backgrounds) were about to attack again, but are stopped by Valentine's voice. He'd recorded the whole thing and was about to send it to the biggest gossip tabloid's editor in chief - But he didn't because he didn't want to expose the situation yet.. he tells Gail to get Kobe's gun, and while he's distracted, Kobe's two friends rush at Vivian.. but it ends differently from how they expect - They kill the three of them (since Kobe and his friends had planned to kill them), and knowing that Bunnier was about to arrive, they leave the scene. Kobe's group had originally disabled the surveillance, so there was no evidence. and since the three of them have no backgrounds, and no 'ability', nobody would suspect them. - In any case, without hard evidence, Bunnier won't be convicted, at most it'll be troublesome for him - Building up their alibi, they only go back to their rooms after the alarm is rung, Gail tells Vivian he's fine when she tries to check his wound, Valentine discovers the abnormality and says he'll look after Gail, Gail and Valentine both go back to Valentine's room, and... his wound is already fully healed - They're very close at this moment. Valentine leans close while Gail's still panicking trying to figure out how to explain his abnormal healing and... kisses him. - Gail is shocked and bolts back to his room to 'take a nap'. Valentine finds it amusing how innocent he is, and is also fascinated by Gail's body and the secrets within. He realized over the past year that Gail isn't as easy to fool as he appeared, just that he is very easy going until someone steps on his bottom line... so he's been slowly boiling the frog in warm water~ - Gail thinks about it, and isn't against a relationship, but besides 'love', he feels something else from Valentine... kinda creepy - But what he doesn't realize, is that to a genius like Valentine, this fascination is much more reliable than any 'love'.. - Next day, nothing happens. The news has been covered up. Bunnier took a month of 'leave', and several other people dropped quietly out of school. The only person suffering is Leo Vibran... all his past secrets start popping up. - Gail and Valentine discuss Vivian's taste in men, according to the histories, she likes the pure weak and frail type... Valentine realizes that neither of them fit that category (whew)~ her men in the past successively got worse. Gail finds it incredible. 19 + 20 - Life settles down now that the people who instigated the antagonism are gone, people even start to approach them and are friendly... meanwhile people are still guessing, then rejecting the fact that Gail is the Gail from kite, the famous mecha arena team ... and then they discovered that Valentine's last name was Ulysses. and 'Ann' from 'Vivian' (it's a character in her name in chinese)... anyone who watched mecha arena battles all exploded in realization!! - Next semester, they need to attend practical training... because their identities as the battle group 'kite' has been exposed, they're likely to be grouped in Group A... there are groups of A B C, which are then split into 'positive' and 'negative', a total of six teams. ABC 'positive' will fight against ABC 'negative'. - They tell the frequent customers to their Starnet restaurant that they might have to close for two months for some matters.. Jos, one of their first, and often returning customers, lowers his head and thinks deep... he had used his connections to try and find more information, but couldn't. that could only mean that the store was registered by a rank A person... he liked smart children. - Time moves on.. Leo Vibran has lost his job due to scandal. Bunnier is back, but quiet. Lanfa is now getting closer to her roommates.. her background is unusual and she has access to many materials Valentine wants. Valentine thinks she's probably a space pirate~ - They did indeed make it to group A, but their teammates are all hard nails (not easy to deal with). Lanfa is worried for them, but the three of them aren't.. the fact that they're all difficult to get along with meant that they wouldnt' group up against them. As a team of 3, with their fighting power.. they could just beat everyone into submission! 21 + 22 + 23 - They arrive at the training grounds prepared by the 7th Army at Nobel Base - The training group is split into postive and negative groups, there is a middle neutral ground between them, but once they step into their camps, they're enemies! - Although everyone in their team A is good, they're not collaborative! meanwhile, the other side is already talking about how to assimilate team B and C into their command... Their first task is to seize a base in 7 days. - When they see the countdown task countdown leaving them with no more time for failure... someone else in their team of 9 suggests they need to 'talk about it'. (finally). They decide to use force to determine command. - Professors were amazed that team A managed to actually begin, but when they looked at the cameras... bruised lips, obvious signs of a fight, "...." - Vivian obviously won, she shocks everyone (including the second in command who was also from the command department) with her momentum and planning, and everyone is motivated to WIN! she even impresses the professors that were watching~ < ch23 is an intense, supercool fight where they fight their way in in 5 minutes... a perfect first battle! > Team: Vivian, Valentine, Gail, Hodgeson (2nd in command), Longfellow, Ji Huaiyuan, Moses (mecha pilot), Qiao Ziucheng (mecha pilot who had been beaten up by Gail during the first class), Ji Zhichong, Hailey (medic..?) xiin: there's 10 people, i don't know why they keep saying 9... unless they take out the commander? or the medic didn't count? was skimming and missed this somewhere~ 24 - Everyone's really tired, but Gail... is just hungry. Then V confesses (a bit) to G, who kinda just ignores it and thinks to himself that Valentine is also in the group of people with terrible personalities that nobody else likes just like the rest of their team~ - They continue on, the professors marvel at Vivian's strategy, and at Gail's fearlessness as he rushes forward at the head of the fight. They also begin to notice Valentine's high tech ability - The entire team is super tired, Valentine has to toss Moses, one of the other mecha pilots into the shower, and Qiao Ziucheng begins to believe that Gail is simply a monster for not being tired... they've attacked in a brilliant spiral pattern that 'appeared' random but wasn't - They have 5 hours to rest before the final push, V cuddles G to sleep and G feels that someone like V, despite being so strong, was still a little pitiful sometimes... - Vivian fights side by side with Gail while Valentine watches their back... Gail is worried that V hasn't slept since they started, but V seems to understand G's concerns and smiles at him, telling him it's fine, go ahead~ this feels like their battles in the arena - They accomplish this 7 day task in 3 days, 22 hours and 30 minutes. - Colonel Rosa, the one who had first welcomed them to the base, greets them when they arrive. Three of the team were injured but would recover with rest, everyone else is just tired... she notices the couples ring on V and G's fingers, finds it interesting, and really looks forward to when this group of people join the real world. - in their room, V passes out in the deepest sleep he's ever had since coming to this world. He has a nightmare, and G, not knowing how to comfort him, hugs him back, then falls asleep again... V wakes up, and thinks possessively, "Gail, this gentleness can only belong to me." 25 - they're given a two new team members, Sasson, from command, and Bennett, another mecha pilot - the two newcomers arrive at the team quarters only to see a bunch of scattered people who instantly come to live when Vivian shows up and calls them over for food - while they're eating, they get their new mission - attack the other side's Team A - they decide not to bother with defenses, and go straight for the attack!!!! The two newcomers are shocked - While the other side is still analyzing their opponent's previous battle, they're under attack... boom! - They're overwhelmed, the positive group (Vivian's team) had gone through the baptism in blood from the first exercise and had become stronger, while the negative group, while they had commanded well in the first exercise, they hadn't really encountered much difficulty and now they were still clinging to their naive mentalities - the battle was over in 30 minutes. At the end of the battle, the positive team were all given A+ scores. The professors were embarrassed and didn't know what to say for the other team, when Colonel Rosa came into the command room... real war has just begun.
Ahh sorry, I haven't been in the mood to reread this novel. I'm still not, but I can answer some questions. Thank you xiin for picking up the slack. This one touches on some heavy themes (war, political intrigues and betrayal, slavery) but the writing style is quite light. Author favours a lot of time skips so it never really gets boringly detailed, despite going through several years of war. And most of the POV is from MC and his team. IIRC the game system gives MC the complete game skills which include: - fighting skills (good with bo stick, special attacks i.e. skills) - better constitution (physically stronger and faster, heals on his own outside of fights (like blood recovery outside battles in games), etc) - life skills (cooking, smithing, etc) - non-combat skills like qing gong (walking on air), long-distance teleport (like game) - backpack (including all the items he had like mp and hp potions) What this makes him eventually is a complete beast of a fighter -- both inside and outside his mech. He can utilise the mech better because of his strong physical qualities. Outside his mech, he eventually becomes famous as an assassin of high-ranking leaders. Thanks to his qigong and physical qualities, he can safely and easily get to places nobody can (jumping from a tower, crossing walls, etc). So impenetrable fortresses to protect these leaders suddenly aren't as impenetrable. And even if he's discovered and attacked, his healing lets him get away with even should-be-fatal injuries. And once he gets enough time (around 10s of no combat?) he can just teleport out.
