In the US people rarely think a long term development of scientific research worth it. They all scramble to stock buybacks or something similar these days whenever they had money to spend away.

Ppl rarely think of long term plans because of a lot of them are short minded ppl. They only think of something that happens in the moment and get instant gratification.

Or if the future of mankind temporarily cast away their morals & ethics due to dire situations we could technically force an evolution via editing the human genome instead of waiting for the natural evolution to occur. :hmm:

That is fair. It pisses me off too. Efforts should be made but I think people do their goals a disservice when they start ringing the bells of destruction and doom.
If this video I didnt watch is not that then I'm off point.

The funniest "death scare" I ever heard of was "bras cause breast cancer". This was followed by me thinking "So when guys get chest cancer, what were they doing?" :p

What's being held back by morals and ethics is unrestrained human experimentation. Except for a few genetic diseases, scientists just don't know enough to safely edit anything. Even then, I wouldn't be surprised if the "beneficiaries" of these edits developed some unforeseen problems sometime in the future.

    Only time will tell...

Anyway i also like the idea of interstellar travel to colonize & terraform planets an alternative permanent solution to combat the decreasing resources of earth but i don't see that happening in 2050 maybe in 2100+
