Yet another oft used KR novel trope...

Game obsessed MC. There’s a certain trend of some Korean authors to escape the difficulties of writing about human relations or (the horror!) romance by having the MC be the obsessive game/power/money type.

It’s even more annoying when you see relationships done right by some KR authors. It makes the KR authors who use this cop out seem even more pathetic.

The author HAS to compensate by offering the readers something else to catch their interest.

I’ve already mentioned my disappointment with how the tight, well done plot lines about how the MC planned to exploit the heck out of the gaming system going badly by midpoint in the novel.

But this is yet another example of how the author seemed to realize the difficulties of serialization...you can’t go back and edit the beginning.

I suspect that had the author gone for a more traditional publication method, giving him a chance to go back and drop plot points that don’t work out as the novel progressed, we would have a much better novel.

I’m wondering now if the author’s later works are more rigorously plotted...

Regardless, I’ve pretty much have decided that any real, good evaluation will require a full translation, and full reread. Nothing less would be fair.

 

A homecoming, and plot developments...yep! I like it!

Now finally we should see soon what the MC has been planning...plenty of America bashing, though. Does anyone NOT think that the Ameri kingdom is not suppose to be America?

 

Something of a filler...MC being entrepreneurial, and a general...getting ready to finally open up the west...and being shocked by a meat substitute...

Author is building up anticipation for the home stretch...

 

This is what I like best about this series, and I hope the author is smart enough to understand that this is how to set himself apart from the herd...

GOOD RESEARCH!!!

The detail about the heme protein is nice...adds verisimilitude and plausibility to this chapter.

I frankly like beautifully crafted stories, where the science has been meticulously researched ahead of time, and the reader is able to “feel” the offhand, background premises of the novel are simply meticulously planned...readers pick up on that. They transfer that to the main plot lines, and it really helps in the enjoyment.

I like craftsmanship, in background, plot, and characters. While this story has lapses in all three, it’s moments like this that keep me reading.

Dialog, about business...apparently he made more enemies again...

But interesting...and as traditional for KR authors, a cliffhanger.

 

Business arc reaching near completion...I can’t wait!

Despite some others who dislike the golf and business arcs, I enjoy them...possibly due to the inconsistencies in the fantasy arc.

 

Golf and pretty decent exposition. Is the MC being sincere? Or coldly manipulating? Or both? I can’t tell.

 

Politics, business and monopolies.

I’m sure the author is enjoying the power trip fantasy, but we’re not. Please go back to dungeon clearing...

 

I just realized this book ended by chapter 190, i am sure as hell the author-nim rushed ended it maybe even it got axed.. i mean the book already half of it about his nonsensical golf life now... we already around 159 that means we got 31 chapter left. This author is over the places

 

welp ill just read it all-together when the book fully translated.. too tired to wait.

 

Agreed. That and the annoyingly poor world building in the beginning is the downfall of this novel. Still going to read it, though.

New chapter...MC being a d!ck, and author casually brushing over casualties...

By now, it sure seems the author no longer cares about this novel and wants to finish.

I think I will binge later on the beginning chapters...that was enjoyable. As it stands, I just want to read the ending.

 

Funny how you are the only one regularly update on this forum, reading your reaction i can see the book turn for the worst.

 

I loved this series when it started. And there’s a certain morbid fascination with watching a novel I loved turn to poo..

And I have a compulsive disorder in that I have to read it until it finishes once I start a novel...

 

me too, but i am waiting for it to be completed first so i dont need to pull my hair off frustrated waiting for next chapter every time.
