Oh I know exactly what ad you're talking about...I hate going on that site because of it. I use Chrome on my phone, and it doesn't get blocked. It seems to be from popads or something like that? Interestingly enough, Opera on my phone seems to block it just fine? Shrug.

The MTL + third language unedited English though...:notlikeblob:

Omg, going onto their site on mobile is horrendous. I get the kind of popup where you can't tap outside the "confirm/cancel" window. So I restarted my browser and deleted the tab before it loaded. Checked my history and it turns out that the popup wasn't just one! It was 5 in a row.

I realized that the popup activates whenever you click on any of their links...to their post, next chapter, ToC, etc. So, if anyone wants to read on their site using mobile, going back and forth between NU and their site works.

    Why are you so surprised?
Some idiot has been spamming my website with comments saying only the original author can criticize MTL crap being passed off as translations.

It is a crime to criticize translators it seems. You might go to jail.

Yeah, I just sent the translator an email telling them how bad the ads were and that they should consider getting an editor. I hope he fixes them soon. I think I'm starting to lean towards him not knowing there were pop up ads or something's wrong with my own iPad because it doesn't make sense for him to only put ads on mobile if he really just wanted the money ya know? I'll ask someone to lock the thread, I feel kinda guilty now lol.

Oh wait I just saw another reply that said they also had this kind of problem. So guess not huh. Too bad :( .

You are making Apple to oranges comparisons here again.
It is not the same thing.
These people most times shamelessly admit to be incapable of understanding English and the source language.
It is not the same with your situation at all.
The other case is usually a translator who doesn't have a grasp of English working with an Editor with no grasp of the source language.
At this point, you are getting fanfiction not a translation.

I have the same problem too when I visit that site on my kindle. I only get ads for Squarespace, online graduate programs, clothes, vacation spots, Netflix on other websites. Can you disable javascript on your website? That fixes the pop up ads problem for me.

Was checking out the comparison and this irked me a lot. So this Jiu Feng will eat the little fry when found or throw it ashore? I cannot tell _(;3/ You better read Google Translate, Bing Translate or Baidu Translate. I heard Baidu one is quite accurate (though I'm not using it).

Jiu Feng couldn't defeat Warlock Yu, but he could easily bully these small fry*. If it wasn't because Momo told him to not eat these big fish that looked like the strange two-legged creatures, he would have already grabbed up the ones that he saw, thrown them onto land, and eat them raw, one by one!

*He sees the merpeople as his prey.

I really like this story, but the author's style of run-on sentence galore becomes confusing once it's translated to English.

Ohh you meant web browser lol I was confused. Yeah, it works without popups when I go on desktop mode, but the translation quality still makes it a skip for me.

The run on sentences make sense in Chinese and I see that type of writing in a lot of novels. It's the translator's responsibility to add periods and adjust the sentences. Otherwise, you'll have a sentence that's half a page long XD they're painful to read.

Also yeah, Baidu Fanyi is a lot better than GT.

Hmmmm..... I've been wondering for some time, is there a way to improve the situation.

Granted the translation is not a fluent read and there's quite an amount of errors, so I'm wondering if the community of readers would like to assist, translators. I know its a long stretch (and a part of me wants to bring back a few of the baka-tsuki practices) which is a community of asian webnovels and lightnovels for people to enjoy.

I probably have an unpopular opinion about the way to handle this, but all i'm suggesting is for people to offer up their two cents on how to improve the quality.

If you see an error, then suggest a correction, or offer feedback. I think that's a lot better than ranting about how the quality is subpar.
Cite which parts don't flow or don't make sense.

    --------------
I think lately there is a lot of demand out there (for quality works), but there isn't enough assistance to go around lately. And looking at how some groups translate, I'm just under the impression, that its a translation with no editing, no proofreading. Basically the project is unfinished.

Its like in school or college, Translating is like one of those group projects, One guy does all the heavy lifting, and everyone else has there little parts to put in.

Well never mind then, I'm actually kinda mad again. I emailed him:

Hey there, Joe! I'm not sure if you're aware of this but there's a lot of pop up ads on your site in mobile, at least for my phone while I was reading Banished to Another World. I kept getting soft porn ads which made me slightly pissed to say the least lol. I think its the website because I saw an ad covering content too but just in case it's my device that's wrong, go try with another mobile device and then troubleshoot the issue if there's ads. It's really distracting and I don't want viruses on my device lol.

Also, with all due respect, I think you should really consider an editor or editing your translations instead of only changing the important parts from Google Translate. It's very difficult to read and it'd be a lot better if you edited your work.

    His Reply:

Hey so I got your message....about the pop ads.... That's like an ad service and its not a virus or anything... It a little money for buying coffee and stuff....

About the translation....I'm not Chinese and I'm trying my best...and for the last time I'm not using google translate..... You try and compare it.....I don't haveany experience in writing...so I don't know how to make paragraphs better....about editors ...Idk....no one can keep up...and they end up lagging me....some can but its too much to ask of them
    _________________________________________________________________________________________

Bro.... just bro.... so let me get this straight. You know about your pop up ads having porn and don't care about the minors reading. You are going to continue with potentially dangerous pop up ads instead of text and display ads that also give you revenue but are far safer. If you are trying your best, then yesssssss, I stan, I respect you! But when you know your English isn't good and refuse to get an editor because they "slow you down" (so you can't get as much revenue faster), I'm kind of like.... um. Okay then. You can just repost the translations if they're slow or have multiple editors. They're not hard to find either, so many people would volunteer to do it. Also it's not google translate? I'm sorry but I did compare and I'm so confused because it looks almost word to word? This kills me inside Jesus Christ. It's such a beautiful gem of a novel but these translations make me sad.
