I think that Yaoi fangirls are much more vocal and proactive than yuri fans.
    Just my take on it.

@Lemonfairy is a yuri translator! I'm not sure who else is a yuri translator though...

But BL has always been more popular than GL, or at least that's what I've noticed over the years.

Supply and demand. Simple as that.

With the size of the yaoi fanbase, there would be proportionally more yaoi translators. The yuri fanbase is smaller, so naturally the amount of translators there are for that genre is also smaller.

I feel bad I know a few BL translators who plan on doing some GL. Though that might be a while cause they want to finish their current series. I hope more people translate GL for you.

(I don't read BL), but there there's a larger number of titles, translators, and readers.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yaoi_fandom

    Manga-updates shows 2,000 shoujo-ai titles to 7,000 shonen-ai titles.

    You could take up translating?

I think where female writers would write yaoi the male writers would write harem stories. So they don't exactly match up in practice.

Don't they say be the change you wish to see?
Since you find this "unfair" you could take the time to MTL all the GL you like and publish it yourself.

I'm writing a yuri novel on scribblehub which is much better than ruining a novel with google translate

Forget about yuri, just look at the amount of yaoi compared to normal romance stories ( I censor both BL and GL because I don't like em ) I kid you not , there was like a page plus more on releases per day on new release page without the release filters and 95-100 percent were all yaoi with 90 percent of those being Chinese ones

From what i've seen personally, so this is just opinion, but it feels like this divide is mostly a thing in novel translations whereas in manga and anime the divide is equalish or slightly leaning to yuri/GL.

I think it's more of a vocal minorityish thing. Maybe because GL is arguably a little bit more accepted and has a wider potential readerbase than yaoi. (Anybody can read yuri and GL whereas straight men are highly unlikely to read yaoi)

I tend to filter everything for yaoi and related tags. makes life easier XD

@EpicYarnBoy you can check my reading lists for yuri dedicated lists.

Actually, while working on the manhua project, I had this exact same conversation with someone in the industry, albeit with regards to manhua instead of novels. I said, "Why is there so much yaoi but so little yuri?! Isn't there any good yuri around?" She explained it to me like this:

"Yaoi and yuri are generally aimed at heteronormative readers, who are interested in the opposite gender. The problem is, male readers and female readers are different. Female readers have this mindset: 'Both these guys are so great, so hot, so cool! None of those girls are worthy of them. Well, if I can't have one of them for myself [because they are fictional], at least they can have each other! They are the only ones worthy of each other!' But male readers are different; they are more possessive. When they see yuri, often the reaction is, 'What the hell is this? Not only can I [or a male lead-in who they identify with] not get either of the girls, they end up with each other? Man, screw this!'"

And that was the reason, as told to me within the industry, why yuri is so uncommon.

in my opinion, the guys who hate yuri for not having a guy in it are pretty gay as they can't enjoy it without seeing a guy
