Kansas ArKansas And I know, from old movies, the proper pronunciation of Viscount, but I still hear the S when reading it.
Kansas and Arkansas is a good one. I only know how to pronounce Arkansas because of watching college football(American football)
I'd learned the various states as a Canadian kid in geography but never clued into it, then saw the video above (edited it to add after I found it) 30+ years later and was amused.
*knows correct way but @.@ dont care* My only access to those kind words is in novels.. not like anyone will criticize me when im reading... ill just think about those pronunciations "if ever" i go to uk
marquis is rather simple. but if you write a list of all the titles of nobility you are familiar with and then try to rank them according to hierarchy you find its nearly impossible, since different countries and orders of ranks differ depending on where they are used. and at least a third of noble titles are confusing as hell, whether saying or simply spelling.
If you found it in a book first, don't trust your own pronunciation. Very high chance of being wrong. I pronounce things wrong all the time. It's not fun.
