then you are in a very cheap country
for that house with the good chunk of land here the prices start at 1 million en often more
and for 150K you kan get a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment in a normal neighbourhood

What would I consider a dream house? Not really sure. I'd be fine with any decent place that has a decent quality of life situation and access to great internet

The cheap neighborhood is like 3 nearby states. The price of real estate does go up quite a lot, so it's a good thing overall. Means economy is back!

The low Fed rate increased asset prices (houses, stocks, bonds, etc), but wages remained stagnant relative to consumer inflation following the 2008 crash. Unless the family's income came primarily from investment, the times were probably challenging.

Wages don't really go up by themselves, you gotta ask. What this means is that you can ask and likely get a raise. Or there is another job with a higher salary/position.

No, you can, just not the dream one in San Francisco where I use to live. Heck, doubt there is a house that sells at $600,000 in SF.

Your point is true. People in general can do more for themselves. I am included in that general statement.

However, my reply was to your comment that increased housing prices would be accompanied by a general increase in wages. That was not so much the case after 2009.
