    I know that in Korea until quite recently, it was against the law to marry someone with the same last name even though there is zero blood relation.
    Commoners didn't have a last in Korea about a hundred years ago and when they were allowed to have one, most people picked the same last name lol.
    It was on a dramafever article but it got shutdown so..

    The calling part is true. The incest part is not. It’s similar to how in Japan people call older men and women “older sister,” “older brother,” “aunt,” “uncle,” “grandma,” or “grandpa,” even while being total strangers. It’s just polite.
