Hi! My interest in political-drama and lots-of-backstabbings genre have been rekindled by reading "Joy of Life" from Mao Ni. Sadly, i almost finished it and currently in a dire need of more WN supply of similar genre. So, i'm looking for stories that rife with political dramas and power plays, power struggle, schemings, and morally grey MC. i prefer if the MC is not too OP, and have moments when they suffer some heavy losses/pushed to a corner/surpressed by major forces/overpowered or controlled by greater power, so the MC can't act without restraint. and it's best if these "games" that the MC play involves tons of life, but it's optional. i don't have any preference regarding the timelines, gender of mc, or something like that. plus, i'm fairly new to this genre of wn/ln/cn. anyone knows some good oness?
hey im trying to get a thread like this myself for a novel im looking for but i cant find this option/how i can do this mind helping out?
i believe that when you arrived in "i'm looking for ..", there's a big button on the upper left side tirled with "create a thread" . hope that helps
Rakuin no Monshou is pretty good. Completed. Release that Witch kinda, but it's a fun read My death flag shows no sign of ending is good too, with funny misunderstandings
The Grandmaster Strategist The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage Nirvana In Fire Edit: Nirvana In Fire has an awesome drama - actually, I didn't read the whole novel, I watched the drama instead.
currently reading the first, finished the 2nd, and have watched every episode of the 3rd!! Add : the drama is AWESOME
My Yandere Succubus Daughter is Mommy Warrior's Natural Enemy (Has been renamed to "Click Here for the Transmigration Survival Guide" -- I have to get on this). The one line that has lots of readers interested at the moment. Queen: "... You don’t exist to stop me from making errors; you exist to make my errors correct." First volume and first half of second volume starts away from the palace politics. It's toward of volume 2 that the story moves to the centre of the political arena. Edit: I think the backstabbing and schemes is self-explanatory in this sort of environment. MC lives that grey line as Mei Changsu does. He's not as OP as Mei Changsu, though; he (Lin Dongqing) does run into dead ends. Lots of business intrigue in there, too. Massive fan of Nirvana In Fire, and this is my fix for it at the moment.
Keep me updated if you read it. The title seems to be off putting for some people, because they expect it to just be an ero novel. I think I had a hand in motivating the author to change the title when I told him that -- maybe I'm just being full of myself, lol. I support pushing for more political stuff like Nirvana In Fire.
If you really love that genre, then Legend of the Galactic Heroes, but you have to buy it or read/watch the adaptation. honestly both adaptation are freaking good, manga for more backstory, anime tv series for the early parts of the main story, the grand OVA for the whole story. It's practically Death Note + Code Geass Combined. If you want a political revenge, Nirvana In Fire is the best you got. If you want a rising MC from the ashes or zero to hero/villain, then Sevens is the best I can think of(preferable the WN version), in the surface, it feels like a standard shounen trope, but deep inside the novel, it's pure conquest through politics. Well there's also the more entertaining stuff like Overlord, you can just click Politics and search for your own preference.
If you're okay with something raw (translated ~100 out of 900 chapters before stopping, not really enough time to start with the really good stuff), you could try Counterfeit Hero. Essentially an interstellar war between two alliances, one mostly of monarchies and one mostly of democracies (some exceptions) . MC's nation could be described as where it started the whole thing due to them being declared war upon and it expanding from there, but they're amongst the weaker or weakest nations out there, so they're in for some tough times. Doesn't also help his cause that he's a roguish fatty who doesn't respect anyone who doesn't respect him or he knows what they're good for.
The Experimental Log of the Crazy Lich Sub plot tho... To Be A Virtuous Wife and Eight Treasures Trousseau have political drama for the male lead, veil banter for the female lead..
