I, personally, don't get the amount of patience you guys have to be able to complete the thousands of chapters which Xianxia, and Wuxia novels provide. I do like the novels but I usually am unable to complete them. The furthest I was able to read was 270 or 280 chapters into ISSTH, otherwise my minimum is 100 chapters before I simply get bored and drop it. Just wondering how you guys do it, and if you can give some advice on how to complete the CN novels. Or am I just an amateur?

On the bus. One and a half hour commute helps you get through them.

You can skim through because the author really like to repeat things and add a lot of comments from spectators which is useless to the plot. In fact you can even skip a few chapters and not missing much.

I think that you are the kind that once they get the answer to what they want they lose their interest and drop whatever they are doing/reading, in other words, you read till you finish an arc or a series of events that got you hooked at first and then you get bored of the plot, so am I right to assume that you ask or/and look for spoilers about what happened after this or that and you read till that point then you drop the novel? if so then stop doing that, it might help you to read further into the story.

It helps if your a fast reader. Reading one chapter usauly takes me a minute to two minutes. So i can breeze through 1000 chapters or more a day. If I am caught up on chapters than I try to savor the chapters so i take five minutes to read a chapter.

I usually read 200-300 chapters and stop, then continue reading after 3-4 weeks.

I do sometimes drop the story once I get to the event I am interested in but those are for the novels which I was never particularly interested in.

Skimming a lot, some parts of the story can be immersive and those parts are nice but in general I skim pretty much 1/3rd of most chapters and sometimes the whole chapter. This isn't with all xianxia and wuxia as some author's write in a way that it doesn't actually feel like a chore most chapters to read the whole chapter. Er Gen is one of the least annoying when it comes to a chapter by chapter basis but there are few author's that try to maintain a semblance of not word count whoring.

That might be the case however knowing the ending to somthing has been scientifically proven to incress the enjoyment factor by a couple times. While this does not work for everyone it does for the majority of people. This is one of the reasons Scooby doo is/was so popular even though the villain would usauly be extremely obvious.

I don't. I read until I get tired which is about 100 chapters, then I stop and move on to another series. Then if one day I feel like reading the old one, I come back and read about 100 more chapters

Chapter sizes also differ from novel to novel. I’ve read some where I could read 80 in a week and some where I could only read 10. Free time also helps lol
