It started last summer around April last year when I can't bear the heatwave even with air conditioner so I started thinking why is it so hot then after some research I remembered that plants and trees can help cool down the area.So I started ordering pots and soil and planted snake plants because those give off oxygen even at night. Then I started also planting pepper plants, okra, calamansi, lemon, chico, mango, moringa and many more. Without realizing it I got addicted to gardening. I think I already planted 50 trees in our place and other lots, and 1000 ornamental plants. I just keep on propagating stem cuttings, planting seeds, fertilizing, oh man it was a stress reliever just seeing those plants and trees growing, bearing fruit and spreading. Even my chronic depression went away. So anyone does here has a same hobby as me. About the temperature, it went down 2 degrees now. Before our place reaches 35 degrees celcius now the max is 33 °C
There's a decent sized stretch of forest that begins in my backyard and IT'S HOT AS HELL HERE. So, yeah, not a solution. And isn't the amazon rainforest hot as hell, too? I'm seeing a pattern here
My house has tons of plants in front of and behind it. Doesn't really change much except the more shade the cooler. That only really applies to having trees tall enough to shade your house. That also becomes a major hazard in storms in case they fall on your house.
Yes, I cultivate several types of poisonous plants. Such as Mandrake, Deadly Nightshade, Angel's Trumpet, Monkshood, Water Hemlock, Hemlock, Devil's Snare, Glory Lily, Morning Glory and etc.
If you are talking about heat from direct sunlight, there's no helping that. But plants would cool down your environment because they absorb heat on the ground whereas asphalt would just intensify the heat.
Yeah i like to try gardening but in here you need money to buy the seedling and other and they are expensive for me
I'm talking about the ambient temperature outside. It sure ain't low. Ofc standing in the sun is 100x worse, but standing in the shade isn't actually cool. It's just hot outside. ---- Well, the highs this week are only around 86~91. Really, it's the humidity that makes it so uncomfortable, more than anything.
We have some fruit bearing trees and vegetables in our backyard. But we are lacking in space so we had to plant things that we really like. But gardening is relaxing and seeing them grow makes you feel good.
If plants doesn't cool the planet then I don't know what does https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/features/LAI/LAI2.php
Be careful with that plant. We had one growing upwind of the house and very gradually everyone started acting weird. After several months of that, the plant was removed, and only then did we realize the difference it made. Afterwards we all asked each other about it, and everyone mentioned a very subtle confusion, difficulty thinking logically, slight irritation, and overall just feeling like something was very slightly wrong, but not knowing what.
Indeed, the pollen is slightly poisonous, though incomparable to the seeds and leaves. The pollen alone is largely harmless, however. Tropane alkaloids don't travel well via pollen after all. Regardless, all of my babies are cultivated in a locked greenhouse since I do have a child and they are for research purposes with a few being illegal to grow without the proper permits.
