I appreciate the realism, quality when there is such and interesting story but in the end I don't like them. The rage and sadness you feel troughout the novel and after finishing it are just uncomfortable no matter how good the story is. What do you guys think? Example: I just finished HP A Cadmean Victory, it's one of the best fics but pretty much everyone dies, literally.
tragedy is one thing but dark story imo some author just want to make it character suffer cuz whatever reason hence sometime I feel the story downhill to boring on full speed it on case for kuro no mao I rarely think about realism on WN cuz it hoahem side~
Sometimes I just love that feeling. I know I dislike it, but there it is... That emotional rollercoaster that felt good and bad at the same time. If it's really bad, I'll just drop the novel. But if it hits the right notes while tickling those darkness, it's quite the drive.
I like them if the MC isn't weak, forgiving and of course MC must be the kind that will get their revenge otherwise than noo I don't like them
Dark novels are pretty good. Most of them are just more... consistent and logical you could say. After another emotional wreck a complete psychopath is a refreshing change of pace and perspective. Their settings also tend to be considerably less shit, excluding MoE which had a promising start, a good early midgame and then shot itself in the unprotected foot with a shotgun as it wrecked its internal consistency and logic for the sake of plot.
Tragic stories gives spice to the stories (imho) sometimes it's too much realistic and oftentimes exaggerated but the point is to make mc strong (or just to make them suffer). The reasons I dropped those stories is when it's disturbing (i.e. rape, suicide, etc.)
I love dark stories, especially one with tragedy and/or bittersweet ending. I feel that if the ending is too good with MC to win everything and lost nothing of significance in exchange, it became clear that this is a fantasy. I think that tragedy added some realism into the story.
ouroboros record is a dark novel I enjoy. I consider it good. what make it dark is the author haven't update the novel for a long time.
Personally, dark novels are my favorites. Why? Well, when it comes to NU, I mostly read CNs and CNs are mostly revolved about cultivation. Cultivation worlds are "only the strongest survives" worlds. Majority of CN are about lucky MCs and enemies with 0 IQ aka "YOU DARE" type nonsense. However, if you want to find a decent novel without that stuff, it will likely be a dark novel. For example, Renegade Immortal, Pursuit of the Truth, WotMW, Reverend Insanity etc.
What i dont like in dark stories is this rape scenes and stuff then blackmailing about it and getting others to join it or their family. Also the ntr wher u steal the girlfriends. I cant take it
I dunno about dark stories but i love dark settings or dark worlds with a somewhat dark plot without tragedy like lord of the mysteries.i dunno what it is but dark worlds are a lot more interesting than your run of the mill wuxia.
MoE is not dark. Dark is when characters you grow to love die and there is no happy ending. Those are not dark novels, Renegate is a bit but you won't cry for any character. You guys are thinking about the wrong novels, Chinese web novel authors simply don't have the skill to make you involved with the characters.
MoE is on the lighter side of dark. It doesn't have to be WH40k levels of grimdark to be on this side of the spectrum. The setting overral is certainly not noblebright. Then again, I'm talking to the guy who gives generic magic system advice in a gaming novel thread. Lul.
I prefer either completely dark or completely devoted. Has to be an evil psycho or a Paladin type devoted nutcase.
