That waterfall scene is the best ending I could ask for! Do you mind naming some examples, since I'm curious what part he acts ooc. To me, the ooc that bothers me is in the end, when he decided he can't got with Wei Ying yet, that part is ooc to me. No, Lan Zhan sealed his own spiritual powers is because of Wei Ying, since JGY was holding him hostage just like the novel. There's a powerful and subtle wangxian moment in ep 50 how LSZ was saying what Wei Ying taught him when he was a child, diaguising pornography as a normal book and how to court beautiful woman etc lol, and Wei Ying was embarrassed and he was looking at Lan Zhan because he really cares what LZ thinks of him lol (that's what I always love about him, like how he cares how LZ sees him); and another part was in that scene when LSZ remembers, Wei Ying and Lan Zhan was looking at each other, with so much love in their eyes, when they reminisce back to child A Yuan almost implying that it's their adopted child since they both raised him before so I really love that Wangxian moment . I don't remember LZ said that otherwise that would really stand out for me for a rant loll LZ sealed his powers because JGY was holding Wei Ying hostage (just like in the novel)

I like to believe he did, and that's how he found A-Yuan... And then around that time that scumbag SuShe was trying to destroy Burial Mound, and Lan Zhan was protecting it that's what earned him those discipline whips.... But then if that is all true, I.e. Lan Zhan did went down to search for Wei Ying's body, then why did he told Wei Ying he went 3 years after?? That doesnt make sense to me.... Or is this a plot inconsistency here??
It probably goes.. WY fell, LZ went to Burial Mound, found AY, brought AY back, received punishment, bedridden, 3 years later searched down the cliff. Which was weird imo Given his emotional outburst when WY fell, I would have expected he would mindlessly scrambled to the bottom of the cliff to find him, be it dead or alive.
I think it was said that the reason he went to Burial Mound was to search for traces of Wei Ying, so that's how he came to find AY on his end, but at that time, SuShe and the other sects also came to destroy the remains of Burial Mound, and that's why Lan Zhan was protecting it, which made him deflect against the other sect and got him those discipline whips, and afterwards, got imprisoned for 3 years. But honestly, going by what he said wouldn't make sense since he said he didn't went to search for Wei Ying until 3 years later, we know why he didn't go until 3 years later. Really Lan Zhan? So you seriously didn't go and search for him until 3 years later? It's so weird and inconsistent, because when you look at his overall character, and his outburst when Wei Ying fell, he definitely would have went right away, which is how I gathered he ended up searching in Burial Mound, so the question is... Why did he told Wei Ying he didn't search for Wei Ying's body until 3 years later?? I'm trying to really rack my brain trying to think of an explanation but the more I think, the more it doesn't make sense to me..... Someone can enlighten me if they know what exactly happened, because my belief in his character told me he went right away after Wei Ying fell, but because he couldn't find traces of Wei Ying's body, he ended up searching in Burial Mound. But going by this being the actual truth, why wasn't he being honest to Wei Ying? I don't see a reason for him to lie. Or was it because they need to mention the discipline whips???
LET'S JUST APPRECIATE THE UNTAMED FOR REMAINING FAITHFUL TO WANGXIAN, AND NOT BEING HETERONORMATIZED. Just read this on Tumblr, and this is so true, I resonate with this so much: So yes, they didn't have to give us that final moment where we get "Wei Ying", but they did, despite all the odds, I think we should just appreciate they remaining as close to canon as possible, even though I have problems with censorship how it changed some scenes (and I still do), but I am forever thankful that in the overall, Wangxian is irreplaceable and they are defined as 'Soulmates' instead of them slapping the 'bro' on our face, so yeah, imo, l do think we should support the view-count to this drama, I want to go and click on every single episode, just to have the view count raised higher (on Tencent)
Oh, don't worry about that. Even with all my rants, I definitely, 100% adore The Untamed. I might complain about how some things got downplayed or changed or spin to navigate the intricate border of censorship but overall, I absolutely adore the whole thing. In fact, if I didn't like it so much, I probably won't be grumbling as much hahaha I wonder if I'm on my way to blackened myself into an anti-fan... That was what weirder me out too. Given how much of an emotional outburst he let on at that episode, I think that was the episode when I saw so much intense emotions he expressed in one setting, I would have expected he'd fought his way through all the other cultivators and climbed down the cliff to find his remains immediately. Who knows, maybe we'll get more insight in the extras? *hint*travelling together seeing the place he died*hint*
Oh, I totally understand how you feel there, I'm the same, and I understand that feeling "if I didn't like it so much, I won't be grumbling as much hahaha", I am like that too. While I do love The Untamed, and yeah, I will also be watching this again, there are also certain parts in the drama, I wish was done better, one of them is Wei Ying not being downgraded when it comes to his powers, and some other parts is how they handled the plot to certain battles etc, so yeah, there are definitely cons in this drama for me, but in the overall, I'm just happy that they did remain as close to the source material as possible, and what matters most is at least we got that "Wei Ying" at the end over nothing at all. P:S: Tencent 'Untamed' has 8.7, and I'm guessing that's the rating for the drama? If so, that's pretty impressive, for the rating to increase this much! Yeah, that was indeed the episode where it shows Lan Zhan expresses so much intense emotions, and I personally love it <3 It is within his character to do so, and I like to believe that he did for all said, so maybe he wasn't really being honest with his feelings when he told him he went 3 years later, I rather take it that he wasn't honest than him not going down right away to look for Wei Ying's body xD. As for the side stories, I really hope one of the side-stories will give us hints of Wangxian being together, or them traveling together, I will be even happy if in the movie, it is through Sizhui's mouth that he said HanGuang Jun and Senior Wei is doing well, traveling together night hunting when Wen Ning asked about Wei Ying and HanGuang Jun etc <3 For the two side-stories, which they confirmed they have filmed, I am hoping that one of the side stories will be the 'Iron Hook' Extra or maybe even the 'Gate Crashing', that would be so worth adapting into the Live-Action imo <3
it’s a plot inconsistency. they’re trying to explain LWJ’s punishment without having him take WWX to a cave. but imo they shouldn’t have (just like many other pointless additions...but I digress). he killed a bunch of ppl at Nightless City for WWX, it would be enough for LXC and the Lan clan members present to just dragged him back to the Cloud Recesses right then and there. idg why they would let him run around down the cliff or to the Burial Mound afterwards lol athough I’m pretty sure he told WN on the boat that he found A-yuan before the Nightless City

And this makes him protecting Burial Mound another inconsistent because I do believe that after he protected Burial Mound, he got those discipline whips because of what JGY said... So what got him to 'Burial Mound' in the first place? This whole thing really doesn't make sense to me anymore, this is why I love the novel better because at least, it makes sense that fills in the plot holes for me..lol. Haha, I wouldn't mind one sentence to confirm that Wangxian further emphasis that they did got together at the end, and have been traveling, I honestly would rather this than seeing them separated and meeting up again which defeats the whole beauty of the original ending to CQL. Also, I think having this said through Sizhui's mouth, just by referring to them in a sentence, will most likely escape censorship, since it's just a sentence confirming Wangxian and you don't visually see it to show the gay to go on censorship radar, so whatever works to Wangxian favour, I'll take, even if it's just one line hahaha. I also want to have that Yunmeng date extra adapted in the live-action , like Wei Ying taking Lan Zhan to all those stores, even if it's just a glimpse, and yes, "bromance" style ofcourse

Talk about the luck... I do really want to give CQL a higher rating because I'm supporting this live-action, but it just never works for me... to be honest have I have no idea how view count works on Tencent or if it’s as strict as Youtube. I just do the most safe way and just let my computer stream through all the eps all day.

I have to confess i'm too weak for caring and doting Lan Zhan The way he buys food for Wei Ying, don't hesitate to give money to him and even bathes him when he's dirty, too much pampering for my poor heart To me Lan Zhan is ideal lover, he may not talk much but the way he expresses himself is so sweet and tender Why did MXTX have to make him so perfect??
