Discussion It's quite simple. MTL is it's own language.

After just spending hours reading MTL I've just read some truly badly edited translated that made me pretty angry.
Then after the anger faded I thought. "Surely being able to read MTL should make even the worst edited translation bearable. But it didn't.
Then I realised it, I dont recognise MTL as English at all, it's like a whole nother language that my brain instantly translates to English whilst a badly edited novel translation I recognise as English so no instant translation. Weird.

MTL is usually quite accurate for word to word translation, but not for sentences.
Badly edited chapter? You don't even know which word is right

Reading the MTL version is like putting your comprehension and contextual skills to overdrive. The scary part is you actually get better understanding the longer you do it.

Badly/not edited MTL: newly created language derived from English.

Properly edited MTL: might be a spin-off of the series. (Editors can't fix wrong translations)

But..but.. Lord Supreme translator is never wrong and must be worshipped even if they are just giving you the prettier cousin of MTL : edited MTL(which is still ugly)

I agree. It can also affect you to some degree. Before I entered the world of MTL, I can still write decent English sentences and have extensive vocabulary. But now...... I feel like my brain will have short circuit once I try to use English. (yeah, just like now)

I agree, my brain switches into another mode when reading pure MTL and it can automatically patch up the mistakes by now. With badly edited translations it just throws you off.

Ah that makes a lot of sense. When I read too much MTL stuff, it seems to mess with my head and proper English starts to feel weird. It's weird and I wondered if anyone else felt such brain-noodling corruption.

Years ago I remember trying to read something Japanese and it would mention rhinos for no reason I could fathom. MTL is such a magical thing.
