I just watched Hellsing ultimate: abridged, and I loved how cool it was. It was beautiful in a different way than anime like No Game No Life, it's more epic and larger than life, badass rather than fantastical. I would love to know of other anime that have that kind of style, that are also pretty good (or have a good abridged version like Hellsing).
I'd advise you to be a bit more specific in what you consider "cool looking" so that you get better recommendations. That being said; Drifters is by the same people (haven't seen it yet though) Samurai Champloo is stylistic but different from Hellsing [8/10] Afro Samurai (both parts, though 1 is better) [7/10] Short Piece is a really interesting collection of 4 short animations. (The one about the polar bear and the other one about dystopian clean-up crews are good. It's a hidden gem) [7.5/10] FLCL is a given. (I think there's a new one out as well. The story left me feeling some type of way but it is undeniably an interesting experience. A must watch for all anime fans) Cencoroll is another odd nut to bust. (It's quite an esoteric find and you can feel smug for watching it.) Bakemonogatari Series if "cool looking" is your main criteria then this is it for you. Well-animated kill-billing of cute teens. (The stories are b-grade but those fight scenes are vivid.) Nichijou was a wildcard for me. Came out of nowhere for a dude who never watches slice of life. (It's the funniest anime I've seen --up there with Angel Densetsu manga--and the production value is amazing. Many interesting animation sequences too.) [8/10] Gantz was also a turning point for me. It was the first anime I saw where the characters actually look Japanese. (The violence is nice and chunky. Not as kill-bill-esque as Hellsing but satisfying nonetheless.) Mushishi has an interesting dreamlike quality to it. (The world and character designs feel very fleshed out.) [8/10] Love, Death x Robots is a wicked animation anthology. (On Netflix of all places! All of them are stylistic and you'll find something you like in the bunch.) [7/10] If you need more, let me know.
Try drifters same author as Hellsing ultimate, also dragon Ball z abridge done by most of the same people and even more people, sao abridge is also great.
I have not, but it looks good, even if it isn't as big in scale as Hellsing. Is there a good dub? I can watch sub but they aren't my preference.
sao abridged was great, but what I'm looking for now is more of an art style, which sao doesn't quite have. But I think drifters might be what I was looking for.
I KNOW RIGHT HELLSING WAS AWESOME i dug drifters alot edit: woops someone else already recommended drifters.
If it is about abridged series then to me, these are my recommendations (aside from hellsing): Dragonball Abridged SAO abridged YUGIOH abridged or YGOTAS also maybe Goblin Slayer abridged (it is not bad) As for artstyle like hellsing, I can't think of many right now but here are some that should be similar more or less: Drifters Trigun Trinity blood Vampire hunter D/Vampire hunter D bloodlust Gungrave
Bungo Stray Dogs it's like My Hero academia except it's more mature and realistic, there are no heroes or villians,I personally enjoyed it. Especially season3
Aside from those mentioned above, maybe something like: JJBA Berserk SAO Alternative - GGO But, if you're looking for something w/ dark comedies, then: Youjo Senki Jormurgand Black Lagoon
Watch BERSERK , the MC is badass and merciless rather than talking shit with the enemies,he kills them
The Kizumonogatari Movies. Great animation. Also involves vampires Then if you like that, watch Bakemonogatari.
I've not seen Hellsing Abridged, so I'm just guessing about what you're after, but I'll second Katanagatari and Samurai Champloo. You might also consider Kill La Kill, One Punch Man and Attack on Titan, but I'm less sure about those.
Purely by Art Style: Basilisk, Fist of the North Star, Ninja Scroll, Akira, Ghost in the Shell (less like the style, but you should like the ambience). Outlaw Star is another that follows like Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop. Samurai Champloo will be the best of the three if you are specifically wanting that art style. One Punch Man mostly yes, partially no. The mc has a dopey look, as do a lot of other chars in the 'slice of life' and comedy aspects, but get a major artistic overload during fight sequences. Kill la Kill, Gurren Lagann, and FLCL are of the same vein in how the style switches. All four of those might interest you. Some that might be close enough is Saga of Tanya the Evil, MEGALOBOX, Air Gear, Gantz, Get Backers. A lot of the older anime (2005 and earlier) have a different feel from newer ones, but it also depends heavily on genre. So I'd honestly suggest you request based on style and genre, rather than just ask for style; purely for the fact that there are so many options.
