It doesn't depend on upbringing most of the time, with cases like this the individual is pleasure-seeking and wants to enjoy and derive or obtain some sort of sick satisfaction out of it in order to keep on going through with these sort or scams, The money's the least of it. Some people are just born with twisted minds and this chicanery requires you to be Mentally-ill. Me,I'm hard-hearted, to a degree but you won't ever catch me doing these kind of stunts in any universe. Actions like Robbing a bank are of sound mind compared to this monkey business.
