Friends, I have a positive mania about the fictional practice of "wasting" or "destroying" someone's cultivation. I dropped "Immortal Mortal" immediately, when the bass hole MC ordered a young scion of a noble family crippled for telling a lie! One dude ordered several cultivators to cripple themselves because they were coming onto his girlfriends… Granted, if he hadn't shown up, the situation might have deteriorated… But the Witches were working in a Brothel for pity's sake! I don't mind seeing villains do such dastardly things, but I cringe when the "Hero" does such things. Heroes aren't supposed to commit atrocities. If someone has offended you, and the situation allows, simply kill him, don't torture him with a fate far worse than death. No, I don't even think that someone who made a practice of going around crippling other people's cultivation deserves to have his own cultivation crippled. You (the MC) are supposed to be a better person than that! Be merciful, and simply kill them. If there must be scenes of crippling, I would like to see more instances of friends striking down the crippled person as a mercy killing and/or crippled cultivators angrily kneeling down and committing seppuku upon being crippled. Be all that as it may. What about a story about a cultivator/physician who comes up with a method to restore crippled cultivations, broken dantians, burst meridians, whatever? Someone once pointed out that even if a cultivator's ability could be restored, he has still lost years, decades or even centuries of cultivation and is past the best years for cultivation… So, let's also stipulate that he gets a reset to his young cultivation period and that he can climb the cultivation ladder back to his previous condition a bit faster than the first time around. {A fate worse than death? Imagine, you are 300-years old and you have a reasonable life expectancy of at least another 500-600 years—more if you can level up. You can fly. You are super-strong. You have never had a sick day. Now you are crippled. Your life expectancy stinks to 30-40 years. Your muscles are weak and you have to walk. Arthritis, failing eyesight and feeble-mindedness of old age lies before you. If you are a rogue cultivator, you may have to beg. If you belong to a clan, you will be an object of derision and contempt. What are those extra years good for, except to feel bitter regret? That's why when the MC tells a client "Cripple your Cultivation" as an alternative to being slain, I wonder why more clients don't reply: "Skew you and the horse you rode in on!"} Saxon Violence
U seem to harbor some misconceptions. The MCs of ur avg. cultivation novels r no different than the arrogant young masters they cripple, save for the "young master" part. That, and plot armor.
HMMMmmnnnn… Cultivation tales as Immoral Existentialism? You're probably right. Here I was thinking of them as Transcendentalist stories of Self Realization. Maybe I was wrong… But SHOULD there be more moral content and less cruelty for cruelty sake? If you answer "Yes" or "No" you loose your Enlightened Status… Just joking! If you have an opinion, do share…. Saxon Violence
Really depends on topic Not all heroes are nice, being hero doesnt mean you are automatically angel afterall. Now lets see the cruelty for cruelty case The reasonable belief in law is punishments are non severe, punishments that are made to force people into law abiding. In a way, they block any case of anarchy. If we go the death way, it would be similar to death punishment right? But it would not make people change their opinion, or strive to be good guy, instead it just ceases their existence. On the other hand, damaging cultivation can be seen as chemical castration (closest example i can find). It would allow punished to live, and also force a strict punishment to not ever do it again, even if there is no hope for change. But should these decisions be given by the hero? No. You wouldnt be hero then, you would be dictator or a weird king.
Well, In the real world, I'm firmly convinced that castration is the most evil and most blasphemous act anyone can perform, because it profanes the sacred maleness. Saxon Violence
Well, In real world castration punishment is only applied to serial rapists so I firmly believe they should be castrated.
Pardon, WHAT is literally Zhang Xuan? Is he able to cure bollixed cultivations? (I haven't finished "Library of Heaven.") Is he on a Path of Self Realization? Is he an Arrogant Young Master? Does he start working in a Brothel? What? Saxon Violence
I believe that what you are proposing will be interpreted as killing senselessly and according to this novels it will be like: Certain idiotic 'young master' :"f*** your mum" Another idiotic YMaster and his retinues:" beauty it's your honor to warm this young masters bed' The mcieeee A few moments later the whole clan + the young master lie on a heap of bodies dead From this we can see that the Mc is a demon and will be viewed as one before even 50 chapters are done and not some righteous hero as who will care about who he was protecting or a few mob characters (one of his harem girls) he was protecting or who insulted his mum or girl
Rape sets the WORLD out of balance. Castration sets the WHOLE UNIVERSE out of Balance. When you damage his testicles, but leave him alive, you're implying that SOMETHING about him is more valuable than his testicles. This is the same as castrating a swine or a horse. You imply that 250-pounds or edible pork or having a gentle riding horse is more valuable than that animal's MALENESS. That denigrates the sacred nature of MALENESS. Saxon Violence
Who cares about maleness, to them more important thing is not their testicles but their life ...besides its chemical castration, testicles will still be there, just completely useless
loosing ur cultivation doesnt mean outright weak muscle, arthritis or etc etc.. cultivation doesn't directly turns/makes someone younger... what it does is too slow down the aging rate of the body... so if a cultivator has been crippled, the only effect will be that his body's aging will return to normal.. like for example, someone with an age of 300 and the life expectancy of what's dat again.. ahh., around 500? lets say his body looks like a 40 y/o old man... if he is crippled, his condition will still be the same(still 40y/o looking) its just that it'll age faster now. if formerly, his body needs 200 more years to look like a 70 y/o old man, then now he just need 30 more years.. that means that crippling doesn't mean fate worse than death.. it just turned them to a regular non-cultivator person... he can still live his life normally... and that losing years decades etc etc.. it just means that the time they spent cultivating will be wasted...
It also does not change an already refined body. So his lifespan would most likely not completely crash and burn. His physical strength and endurance, including resistance to sickness and similar effects, would probably also stay drastically above average.
I'm more interested in an idea of a airborne contagious virus that can erode ones cultivation and turns a person into dust. I'll call it "Martial White Ash Plague ". kekek
