So I'm doing a book report for my Honors English 10 class and I have no idea what do it on. Can anybody help?

The criteria for choosing a book are as follows:
    • must be "modern" as in published 1990-Today
    • be of an adequate reading level (10th grade and up)
    • fiction
    • must not have been made into a movie, TV series, etc.
    Thanks.

Can't you just chose something from the novels?
The Lord of Mysteries is gaining popularity

Write about how bullshit the ending of the Bartimaeus trilogy was, and how it broke your young heart. :blob_catflip:

But, srssly, what kind of books do you even like? Do you read? :hmm:

Could you imagine his teacher’s reaction to a book report on one of those really smutty mindfuck BL novels @remy911 likes? It’d be absolutely glorious. :blob_plusone:

I've enjoyed the honorverse novels (haven't read them all too many). the first one should do well enough i suppose and provide whatever you need for the report

How about Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami? Or Fledgling by Octavia Butler?

i was thinking that myself honestly, but i was wondering if it might be too childish for 10th grade (not that I don't still enjoy it occasionally still).
edit: it might also violate the rule about movies as there is a potential movie in the works

Probably could, but with the bullsh*t public education system they would probably say something along the lines of "What is this? A fanfiction? Nope."

    1. The ending of the Bartimaeus trilogy was bullsh*t.
    2. I will read anything and everything fiction. Mind numbing 1500+ chapter xuanhuan? Yup. Bullsh*t chinese romance? Why not. Pretty much everything on Quidan with the exception of BL.

Yep and straight to the counselors I go.

Pretty standard book report. Summary, review, analytical breakdown, all that garbage.

Well maybe... but she's a 40-ish, god-loving, "You need JESUS!" type person, so highly doubtful.

Artemis Fowl is a no-go. As anon said it's too childish. As for bookstore, yes and couldn't find anything that seemed good.

so far acceptable suggestions are paulo coelho's novels, Bartimaeus trilogy (though you seemed resistant to it), through wolf's eyes by jane lindskold or honorverse series.

it really was kind of shit, but I am okay with it. It was great all in all after all

The black magician trilogy, its sequel trilogy Sonea, prequel Magic, and the era of the 5 trilogy (not sure about the English name), all by the same author are books I recommend
There is also another newer series about a worldhopper by that author that is good, but I have only read the first 2 books. Check it out, iirc it is by trudi canavan
If you take them all, you have over 10 books by one author xD

Thinking something along the lines of Paulo Coelho's novels or the honorverse series. As for the Bartimaeus Trilogy... it was the typical "hero saved the day, but died along the way and will be remembered" bullsh*t that I hate.

The hero being, essentially, a reformed slavemaster adds a bit of spice, tho doesn’t it? Especially when the reforming happens right around the end.
