Arpeggio of Blue Steel would have been a good rec... if not for how fast it threw away it's naval focus. Never read the manga but ugh the anime was a bit disappointing when it didn't build up the ships story and capability afterwards.

There's a naval arc to Legendary Moonlight Sculptor... but it's.. short... and yeah... .... Idk, man.

Ever read the Brotherband series? It's not fantasy, but it's fantastic for fun ship fiction. Original english. You should technically read the Ranger's Apprentice series first for recurring characters and whatnot, to get the most out of it, but you don't have to.

Altina the Sword Princess - Not specifically naval battles, but it contains all fronts of war so there are a few volumes that focus on naval battles. It has a really smart and strategic protagonist and how he deals with the ships is really cool. Maybe you could try it out.

Also, Youjo Senki has some cool naval battles too but the main character is the leader of a flight wing so even though its over seas, it's a battle in air.

does it have to be fantasy or is sci-fi ok? Cause in that case I got a pretty good recommendation.

not a novel but the "Inda" book series is a great story with lots of naval combat and strategy. the fantasy aspects are pretty weak but they are there

Well in that case, I would recommend the lost fleet series by Jack campbell. One of the best space opera sci-fi I have ever read and ship to ship battles is a big focus of the series. Like Fire says, destroyermen is pretty good to, though I would argue it is more of a "kingdom" building series.

I agree Lost Fleet series is incredible. It’s almost like a return of King Arthur with lots of battle experience. If we’re going to suggest sci-fi. I’d recommend Honor Harrington series.
