    Ooo....love this idea...only I'd saute the onions/scallops slightly...enough to bring out the sweet but still keep it crunchy...and the cilantro well, that is always magic. ^.^

    u can sautee onions, tomatoes, bell peppers and then add the beans along with other sauce and seasoning of your liking. then steam the rice separately and then eat together

    Depending on your genetics. There have been serious scientific studies done on people who cilantro and people who say it tastes like soap.:whistle:

    Big yay!
    One of my favorite quick meals is canned baked beans (this is the one in tomato sauce right?) topped on freshly cooked rice. Had them countless of times.

    stir fired them add a bit some salt pepper and sugar to make the texture a bit crisp but becare full if the fire to strong you will get lump of black mass

    Nope, I've never cooked or ate rice with baked beans before.. but maybe it will tastes good with sambal too :blobdrool:

    The problem with eating baked beans with rice is mainly its taste. Where Ai-chan is, our baked beans taste pretty sweet, so eating it with rice which is also somewhat sweet makes everything too sweet. So Ai-chan would add egg while cooking the baked beans to reduce the sweetness and provide a different texture. And if Ai-chan adds onions, it would be crisp onion instead of soggy ones, so only char it for under a minute to get that sizzle but not long enough to make it soggy. Then mix the onion with the baked beans and eggs and pour it on the rice. It's still sweet, but it's better than before.

    it is ok by the two on its own. if you have more stuff to flavor it, that would be better. but you can live on it for a long time.
