Read the first few chapters, it's got me thinking if this is only politics.

Well if you are into cliche novels this novel and it's sequel otherworldly evil monarch are definitely top tier among cliche novels , nothing unique or anything but as far as cliches go these novels handle it well .

How about the harem? I dislike OEM because of that fuckin r*pe against his own sister-in-law (I know it is in name, but it still leave a bad taste in my mouth)

After completing it, I would say that this is close enough, though I would put it more like 60% politics, 25% fighting, 5% romance, and 10% other. Ether way, it is mostly politics. The most similar novel I could think of would be Joy of Life by Mao Ni.

The harem is okay, nothing of the sort OEM has.
Yes. I wouldn't say great, but it is good for new people.
Joy of Life is mostly political, fighting maybe 5-10%. Though similar in composition, they aren't similar in writing, characters, story, etc.

Decent read , nothing more than that , don't expect it to be good or great but a bit above average.

If it reached 10% or more it's already considered political. At your quote 50% it would be more in the line of propaganda.
