Do you have any good novel you have dropped? The novel that didn't go bad. You still think it was good. Something just make you dropped it.

Mine was "The Iron Teeth". It was good even at the moment I dropped it. But after the "wipe out", the tone and casts changed drastically. The writing was still good. The story reasonable. I understand the changes. But I after 10 or so chapters after the wipe I cannot take it anymore and dropped it.

Pretty much everything that has translations now done by effectively MTL.

The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound. I didn't drop it because I hated the story, nor did it get boring. It was actually a petty reason, I dropped it because he rejected best girl (imo). I understand it's extremely petty and stupid, but I lost my will to continue.

Ugh. I hated those. It feels like they are butchering the novel.

The clash between readers shipping and cannon pair. I honestly rarely ever ship the cannon pair. Secondary ones are often more interesting

Stories that are so amazing, and then they devolve into a harem for the sake of having a harem. I was reading one, can't remember the name, but the guy was Chinese and went back in time. He started selling bank notes and cars (etc), but after discovering he was going to be in a harem, I just tapped out. Even though the romance only occurred every 50 chapters.

Another is where this woman gets kicked out of her husband's house and divorced. Yada yada they get back together, and then she switches bodies randomly. Something about switching bodies annoys me. It was getting interesting, but I hate that trope of random, out of nowhere, supernatural elements that destroys a slice of life-esque story.

Nothing wrong with that. No one wants to witness a couple you can't stand being together for an entire story. I've dropped many stories because of that.

I have dropped a couple of novels that are really good because a certain notorious group picked them up and I just got tired of their sometimes MTL level of quality and their schemes, like dividing chapters in pages or straight up posting parts of chapters as chapters messing up with the numbering in here. In fact because of them I made a new reading list called Manga to put all the novels that I am already following, or would ratter follow the manga of.

Then there's Overlord, I would actually be hesitant of calling it good but I definitely liked it before a volume where the MC did something that seem OOC for me and really pulled me out of it, specially considering that at the beginning of the volume there was a way better plot that was just brushed away in favor of boring world domination plans.
Never mind that the next volume looked absolutely boring from the description.

I kinda want to start another thread about "main love interests are often not as interesting as secondary ones". I believe the reason was because main love interests were created as a love interest first with specific ideal personality / fetish to fill. Others may be created as a character for the story first and thus more interesting.

But I'm too lazy to keep up with another thread right now lol

There are a lot of novels where the translations had not yet caught up and it was dropped for a long while so I couldn't read it, then it was picked back up and I wanna read it but can't get myself to start since I don't remember everything so I can't really start where I left off, and I don't have the heart to re-read the whole thing again. But I guess those don't count since I actually want to read them still.

In that case, these'll be the ones I actually dropped on my own regardless of chapters released:
To Be a Power in the Shadows! - I'm perfectly fine with the misunderstandings and whatnot, actually I quite like it to some extent, it's just that the MC's front that he shows to everyone is getting too involved with too many things. I wanted his hidden identity to do all that and mess things up while on the surface he remains so normal that the story doesn't focus on it too much. But instead we get more of his "normal" weak life in the story more than his cool ninja mode shenanigans. I mean, what's interesting about that? If the story focused more on him acting as shadow I'd be a lot more invested.
Outaishihi ni Nante Naritakunai!! - Now the reason why I dropped this is quite silly. So at one point we suddenly got a prequel of the story. It was a short first love story of the heroine before she reincarnated. Now knowing she ends up with someone else after reincarnating, and actually shipping those two, reading the prequel hurt...specially when it was so romantic and cute. But I stuck through it and read it, and right after that in the main story, she meets her past lover in the new world...I for some reason really didn't wanna read any further, it made me feel sick.
Well, that's what happens when you always get too invested in stories. Whether its bad or good, I always end up getting too invested, so I usually never drop stuff (even To Be a Power in the Shadows! I still have the last page I read saved, I plan on getting back to it at some point) cause I'm always immersed into anything I read if I like it or not.

I remember dropping A Naive Short Tempered Girl because the translator got a bit too obnoxious in their anti-piracy measures... Like, sure, I get that they didn't want their work stolen, but when they release a chapter in mega broken and unreadable format and don't fix it even after a week, then I'm like... "I'm supposed to read it like that?"

The story was nice, but I need at the very least to not need to scroll to the left and right to read a chapter... Oh, and all letters having the same color and being in the same background please.

So... I wanted to read it, but it didn't feel like it was worth it to do so.

Its new to me. I've read novels where my ship hasn't been fulfilled and while I feel some disappointment I've never been turned off from it, but this was just worse. It just destroyed my whole view of the novel.

I dropped The Charm Of Soul Pets several hundred chapters in because I incorrectly predicted a plot twist of the main arc (thought princess jin rou wad his first soul pet) and didn't like that. I didn't check whether my prediction was right or not at the time because I was in denial and now it's been so long that I'd have to read from the start again.

I also dropped upgrade specialist in another world, which I thought was alright at the time, because they ditched the first girl (who I thought was the most interesting character in the novel) out of the novel entirely with no resolution. I kept reading, waiting for her to come back, but she never did. MC started growing closer to the other girl (who I thought was the most boring character in the novel), so I ended up looking it up and saw he married the boring girl, with the interesting only ever being mentioned again once when he is reminiscing about the past. Blegh.

    Against the Gods.

I used to love so much this novel but I can't withstand with how Harem destroyed this novel.

It's impossible to love many women to the point of being willing to sacrifice your life and the conversations are shallow, the ways women enter the protagonist's life are ridiculous. Furthermore, the author made YC so strong that he keeps "nerfing" his cultivation. I love the world in ATG but the plot is terrible.

I forgot that I kind of dropped Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken, not because of anything in particular, but because I reached the, at the times, latest translated chapter and there was a small hiatus or something and I hadn't discovered Novel Updates at the times, so I lost the thread, and now I'm not so sure where to come back to.
