Who is the best antagonist in the novels you read and why?.
For me is cultivation chat group fatball. In ccg there so many excellent antagonist.

 

Atein from dragon maken war.

He is wise final boss who has different perspective from mc, that even mc cant said he's wrong.

Hitogami from mushoku tensei.

Final boss that really trickster and manipulate mushoku tensei plotline to certain degree, the sudden plot twist about him really get me on late volume.

Agnus from Overgeared

Poor mad man who has tragic past story, he isnt really bad person but fate and people forced him to do so, confront grid probably as main antagonist of entire series.

I have so much more in my mind, but this particular 3 comes first on my mind.

 

Can it be from manga? Esdeath and Meruem is my fave antagonist of all time.

I'm still reading it so I don't know what happens with her yet (no spoilers please) but I really like the Divine Queen from Ze Tian Ji. I think a large part of it is due to the various conflicting relationships she has to the MC through different people and the fact that we still don't know what her true personality or feelings towards the MC are.

 

Do I have to have read them? Because I choose Organization XIII! Even if I’ve never read the novel version of KH....

doctor Justus Freud from My Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending . He is a smart villain, he manages to pressure the main character and even more or less figures out his special ability (knowing the future to a degree).

Montra from Monster Soul Online . The author really tries to emphasise growth in the main character and this is also shown in trying to reveal the rivals logic and motivations ,making you understand him a bit more, though honestly i was more surprised by how they managed to completely change my perception of a character without even changing their personality or even revealing anything about their past, just by placing them in their element and you suddenly think "this asshole is actually cool!"

 

For me, no one beats the Emperor from Joy of Life. He is a properly developed antagonist, the author portrayed his ambitions, insecurities, fear, loneliness perfectly. His conflict with the protagonist is well set up, and his development into an antagonist is very well done and fleshed out. If you haven't read Joy of Life yet I definitely recommend it, for the character and the story.

 

Invivisible Dragon from Invisible Dragon, cause their fight is awesome

 

The Guide from I’m the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire!
He try's his best to push the mc into despair only for it to backfire every single time in comedic ways.

is there more epic antagonists ? i didnt read alot of webnovels only light novels and if i like it i read it's webnovel
well maybe if from anime i would say strolheim from jojo part 2 XD

 

yeah seems like doctor justus is difficult to defeat or should i say the author can't make a good ending nor a sad ending because the mc objective was to survive the game but all i see from what happened is the author doesn't want to make a sad ending for the novel so he literally drop it now if we get a useless chapter every year we thank god

 

This is a pretty difficult question as I've read a ton of books with a ton of villains. I started with Yue Buqun and simply went down the list to see who's better than him, but I just can't think of any. Even though he's as vile a character as they come, he manages to mix in deep characterization and can evoke a bit of empathy. It helps a lot that his main enemy in the story is another villain rather than the heroes.

 

I like hunter x hunters way of no real villains. More a balance in each character, working at cross purposes. Conflict is three-fold with the outer world, inner self and other people. I thought the blood calamity from five-way heaven did a good job of combining all of those. a human-spread pleg made from the blood of a selfish god used to convert the people, topple an empire and further some peoples agenda.

 

It was a shame that the author had to end the novel prematurely due to his health.

 

Among Chinese novels there are some great antagonists in Forty Millenniums of Cultivation, also a certain girl from Legend of the Great Saint and a homeless guy from My Wife is a Beautiful CEO, lol.
