It’s been a while, but the general gist of the last arc is something like this: When MC was young, his parents were murdered in a fire that burned down their home, set by the leader of a crime syndicate (ML). MC is badly traumatized by this incident, and grows up vowing revenge against ML. He becomes an undercover police officer working under ML’s organization. ML becomes increasingly fond of this subordinate, up until MC gets exposed and desperately tries to assassinate ML, unsuccessfully. ML can’t bear to kill him, so he... uh... mind breaks him by locking him up in total isolated darkness and torturing him for months, where only ML’s visits bring any relief or comfort. The sheer agony makes MC revert to a traumatized and confused state, where he can’t remember what he was here to do. ML then tricks the amnesiac MC into thinking they are lovers. It’s revealed that MC’s father was once a police officer working undercover in ML’s organization too. He even risked his own life to save ML in battle. ML trusted him with everything—and then MC’s father betrayed him, killing many of ML’s men. ML didn’t want to hurt his once-friend, but he felt the need to take revenge on him for the honor of his lost men’s lives. ML didn’t know that once-friend was MC’s father, so when he took MC to the father’s grave to honor him, MC’s memories flood back. Yadda yadda more angst. In the ending, ML embraces MC as they both burn in the flames of MC’s home, so everything comes full circle.

Ml was dehydrated, he fed him his blood to hydrate him...., god knows if that works in real life but theoretically it makes sense?
This is pure torture. Urg... Or am I just used to MLs who still loves MC in every world even without memories?
These kind of novels allow me to read tragedies without getting a depression. The fact that the MC is only acting make it easier for me to distance myself from the plot.
