Haha..as a person who considers running away to an exciting place at least once a week I have to say prep would be key..go visit first..check it out before packing for the big move lol. Apply for jobs online go for interview see if you like it. Stabilize the situation before you randomly move somewhere

NGL if you want everything to be clean and legal, then most of it is already answered in this thread... for guns and other stuff...it depends on the person’s ability or (bad) luck finding just that other person who knows the dealer. Also, is your protagonist a boy, girl or doggie? That difference makes life in certain countries definitely difficult...
Agree. I did an internship in a certain country over ten years ago, now when some people were looking for a place to work and I suggested that country they were like are you crazy? It’s impossible to get a working visa there now bla bla bla. And I’m thinking how lucky I was back then
Still guns aren't the answer..the reaction time of a normal person when being mugged would prevent them from being able to pull the gun out and be effective. The mugger has the element of surprise. Also most places prohibit carrying a concealed weapon.Awareness is key..be alert to your surroundings..avoid dangerous areas..altho the best ribs I ever had was at a small restaurant in a dangerous area of Chicago haha..may I ask where you live?
No, it was ten+ years ago... 2006/2007, 6 months duration, one term in uni Edit Actually I’m surprised my mum let me go there... usually she’s all stressed out when I go to another town for half a day, where as that internship was in another country (like nine hour flight or so?).... thinking about it I did a few really stupid things there... like getting in a car with a man probably twice my age... and other stuff...
