For those of you who do not keep up with the news, a few years ago there was a trans-dimensional portal that opened as a result of a huge battle between the Magical Girl of Love and Justice and the Magical Girl of Evil and Darkness.

The multinational scientific teams that initially went through the portal were doing well -- and they reported back that the opposite site was an entirely different universe (with different physics) where magical and other various fantasy things existed. For instance, there were detailed reports on sightings of unicorns and dragons and elves and catgirls and orcs (and more). Humans did not appear to exist in this universe.

Last month there was some breaking news that the multinational cohort that traveled into the portal seceded from their respective original countries, declared independence, and started a new country on the opposite site of the portal. A coalition of Earth-affiliated military forces attempted to subjugate the rogue colonialists, but the military expedition failed due to poor understanding of Otherworld physics.

Consequently, the sovereignty of the Otherworld Kingdom was formally recognized, and the (short) war for independence ended.

Currently, the Otherworld Kingdom is looking to increase their population. They publicized a bulletin called the Otherworld Homestead Act: an individual who immigrates to the Otherworld Kingdom has the right to claim 500 acres of land for free, provided that they clear the land, build a house, and surround it with a fence. The advertisement seems to imply that you could make a living as a farmer on all that land.

The technology level of the Otherworld Kingdom is relatively low, since many laws of Earth physics (including electronics) do not seem to work there. However, there is magic! ...Although the details of exactly how magic works there is not very clear.

Travel through the portal is currently heavily regulated, as the political situation between the Otherworld Kingdom and Earth is rather tense. It is not possible to visit the fantasy country as a tourist in advance. Only immigrants are permitted to travel through the portal.

Immigrating to the Otherworld Kingdom is the equivalent of renouncing your citizenship to your home country on Earth. Multiple countries on Earth (mainly United States) have marked the Otherworld Kingdom as a "terrorist country", although not all countries have made or retained this designation. ​

Easiest yes in my life.

 

Prefer dog girls since theyd be loyal. Cat girls in real life would be too stuck up with attitude.

I would love to homestead on a fantasy world. As long as I have access to this world.

If the portal can go back and forth then, there will be trafficking for demi-humans on black market that sell Cat girls, Elf, etc. as slaves, and most importantly porn. so I'll stay on earth. sometimes you don't need to work hard to enjoy the benefit.

 

I would want to go simply to experiment with magic, especially healing and self buff magic.

 

As I grew up in a family with half farmers and half fishermen, I think I at least have some knowledge pertaining those activities and maaaaybe I could do well at it and the magical otherworld place looks fun...
But even moving away from family for a while is sad. If I could never come back, I’ll probably stay in this world...

 

Hmm, no cuz there'd be no internet, and the government seem to be die-hards about moving back and forth. Seems pretty dumb, cuz there'd be untouched resources there they could import and such.

Though, I would want to, for the free land, and resources that may come with it, but it'd be too hard to defend and manage, till a time the gov eases up.

Transcendence would be simpler with otherworld physics. especially if it allows the detachment of spiritual life-forms from corporeal entities.

Hard to say, while appealing, there is little I know that would enable me to survive and live well there. I have no clue how to farm, no idea if I have any magical talent (or ability to use magic), and no clue if I could contact my family on the other side of the portal. Still, I think that all things considered, I would at least like to try and live there, if not for break in monotony then the possibility of magic.

 

I’d do so if I could have some kind of connection between the two worlds (i.e. ability to hop back and forth between the two worlds Saving 80000 Gold style)

Boredom counts as a reason, right? I do need my cheat tho.

 

The only reason for earth technology to not work, is for a higher being prohibiting it.
