    Well, this was just wonderful*sarcasm*
but hey responsibility is for only employees.

A Chinese influencer has agreed to pay compensation to the families of two girls - after one died in what her family says was an attempt to copy a viral video.

I am guessinga YouTube for kids would be made available soon
Given how parents have to work a lot because of crappy wages or expensive daycare its not a surprise that kids are left alone.
People keep championing free internet but last I checked, its mostly 13 year olds who use porn sites.
Adults just go have sex lol

... I blame both parties, both the influencer and victims, did the influencer not mentioned how dangerous the act and not to attempt? Did she at least put a "do not try this at home" or something similar before start of video? Did the victims not understand what they do is not safe? Frankly, internet is a very open place for knowledge, dangerous ones are the ones to look out for. And what were the parents doing while their children imitate such dangerous acts? I thought this age is about overprotective parents?

    In the article it mentions:

"Ms Yeah said that all her videos included warnings advising viewers not to imitate her actions, emphasising that her videos were "not meant to be instructional".

So it appears she did. But what I'm thinking about is that can you even blame the author of the video? If an action star does something (not quite possible and dangerous) in a movie and your kids imitate it would you even sue them?

    This just feels weird.

So it is just soft targets then. If the video had include the warnings, then the influencer is somewhat excused (in law at least), but the parents can further blow things up to and make life worse.

Putting a disclaimer in places where people wont bother to look eg at the end or in little font doesnt help.
Saying it jokingly too doesnt help but more importantly, the victims are kids.
If the video says kids are not allowed to watch then I will raise my hands up and absolve her of all blame
    [IMG]
but we both know that didnt and wont ever happen.
You keep saying something is good and great but are surprised when you are being imitated? :blobwoah:
    You must be crazy :blobunsure:

Youtube Kids has been out for ages but it still wouldn't help when it comes to bad parenting.

What about the picture spam? You know parents always taking "perfect pictures" of their kids and posting on facebook or instagram

Bad parenting or poverty? Would an American family have industrial-grade alcohol lying around?

Good parenting like all good things is expensive. Time spent taking care of kids is time lost working. It is money lost

Kids shouldn't be have access to a 1kg bucket of industrial alcohol.

This is definitely the fault of the parents almost 100%

Man, back when I was a kid I already have common sense of what to do and what not to do without my parents instructing me, I wonder what went wrong in this world. Human Intelligence seems to be degenerating instead as we progress kek.

Sue the parents for suing you... is what the Youtuber should have done, instead of paying for something the Youtuber "clearly" did nothing wrong.

Bad parenting has nothing to do with poverty, but the parents themselves. Rich family also has their children died due to reckless driving and so on. It's not just poverty that resulted in the tragedy.

You have exceptions but poverty plays a big role.
Poor family cannot afford simple preventive medicine.
I am talking about this case specifically.
Parents cannot supervise their kids 24/7, even the best parents.
The issue here is the industrial grade alcohol that was lying around.
I could make assumptions on whether the parents were computer literate enough to censor YouTube but we dont have enough information

Someone said YouTube for Kids is a thing, I thought I heard something about it on PBS a while ago and it was for schools.
The minimum age to use Facebook which is arguably more kid-friendly than YouTube which has porn is 13 years
One of the two victims is 12.
