Don't you think that now is the best time for Chinese anime (Dong Hua) to take over Japanese anime market?

There are several reasons why I think about this, as :

    • Japanese anime theme has become too stale. Aside from a few outstanding titles that appear every season, the others basically just act as an obligatory to complete the anime airing in particular season.
    • This second point is the focus of this thread, but wtf with every Isekai that have plagued Japanese anime for the past years? There is no problem with Isekai theme, but if you just make Isekai with limited budget, similar storyline and half-assed works every single season, I don't think people will just accept it and let this become the norm.
    • There is no new anime that can trigger and influence the mass like what SAO did (aside from the controversy about this series, this series succeed in bringing people to know about anime and japan pop culture in general). Kimetsu no Yaiba or Makoto Shinkai works maybe bring some fresh air to the anime community, but the impact feels too little compared to the stalemate the community feels.

So IMO, this is currently the best time for the Chinese anime production team to maybe make a cooperation with a Japanese studio to produce an impactful anime with cultivation, game, josei, yaoi or anything that can shock the mass with what China can actually produce to break this stalemate.

There is already an anime titled Reikenzan that got adapted from Spirit Sword Mountain novel but this is not what I mean by "an impactful anime". The King Avatars adaptation to some degree fulfill this condition, but the dub and the rigid-style animation is becoming a limiting factor in making it impactful enough.

I don't know if budget or studio capability is the obstacle to produce something good, but every single 2D animation feels severely lacking compared to the Japanese counterpart and 3D animation feels not like the right approach to these issues because people are already comfortable with 2D.

So, what are your opinions about this?

Due to the sheer amount of chapters most Chinese webnovels have, I don't really think it's really viable to completely animate a webnovel. Even if it is, it'll always be unfinished.

Arifureta has a potential to be as popular as SAO but the producers haste it even after 2 years of delay

But there's only like 2 or 3 isekai anime for every season so far. I still think it's not enough to be an issue yet.

    BTW, I need moar isekai.

I forgot to add this to my explanation, but SAO is originally a WN.

and I to some degree agree that WN is ridiculously too long to be adapted in an anime format, but aren't there some title with a moderate length that can be tried to be adapted?

Chinese anime can't overtake Japanese anime because China won't allow ecchi.

Although I don't like Arifureta at all, this type of novel can really be an opener to the edgy kind of MC

but I place my hope higher in the upcoming Mushoku Tensei adaptation

    >Every season
    >2-3 titles
    >similar storyline

How is this not a problem? and 8 out of 10 titles have the fucking similar MC but with different hair color, hair style and your usual japanese fuckin MC

    Ah, fanservice? :cookie:

You know, maybe people will get a refreshing taste with an anime that contain no fanservice at all. Some fanservice is really unnecesary at all...

The delivery and themes for Chinese anime is still a struggle. They face even more potential for being stale

Older Japanese anime faces the same issue of stale theme. Yet we still consume them and it still survives. It's just product cycle. Remember those days where translation = 1 chapter per month, 1 episode takes forever to fansub and download? And 1 chapter is like 50 pages not 1 page?

There's a huge difference between not using fanservice as a choice, for artistic reasons, and not being ALLOWED to use fanservice.

Then there's a weird Japanese fascination with Loli and pedophilia. If you look at some of the anime that have ecchi or similar genres, you would find a LOT of sexualization of children as in NOT teens BUT preteens and under!!! I was always turned away by that bc I just can't enjoy an anime when I'm enjoying a scene and the next thing I see is a little girl in REALLY skimpy skirts or outfits be thrown into the mix and have them be sexualized. That's just against my morals
