https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49825895 he said. "Social media is a big evil for me. "People there make a living from sharing their lives with others. They can do nothing and get money for it if I watch them having breakfast." Wagner, who left German champions Bayern Munich for Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda in January, is worried social media can give children "a false picture of life". "I see the danger that our children will become more and more stupid and ultimately more unhappy because they are following the wrong role models, pretending to live in a glamorous world," he said.
Another person thinking he can say what is better for others... The problem is the parents leaving the education of their kids to Social Media. Take some time to talk to them, to play with them, to interact with them, and they won't seek friends and such in social media.
well he got a pretty good point there. . . . and hell eben if parents can supervise them. . . they will still encounter them in society. . . like friends, peers and the likes. . .
Social media does give children a false picture of life ~ The amount of crap online is amazing ~ On the other hand, the amount of interesting and useful information is also profound ~ The problem is discerning between crap and useful. Teach your children to question everything ~ Teach your children what it means to be alive...to experience the world around them and question and explore and learn from that. Help them connect to the physical world. Teach your children, and this is important, that nothing is for free. Absolutely nothing. You will always have to pay a piper somewhere. Online, the piper is usually hidden so you gotta try to not fall into some traps. Hmm....I think that is all. >_> awaits explosion of comments so hides.
a somewhat bigger problem is that the amount of crap is growing much faster than the amount of good info...
ikr? Which is why it's important to teach how to discern between things and that doesn't happen unless you can engage meaningfully with others around you. But why do you need to engage anyone around you when you have all the information and connectivity at your fingertips? (I made a point not to mention schools cause....schools have in general stopped teaching children how to think critically in the last twenty years imho) It doesn't help when search engines and other providers can tailor searches to what you like ~ Not what is correct information, valid or important, just based on what you like. It makes me worry for all those kiddies that get given iphones and tablets as babysitting tools ~ Let all that sink in for a moment. If you are mostly online and well, isolated in your own bubble, how can you engage in meaningful, constructive conversation, let alone learn how to live amongst people with differing views ? On a tangent - At least with television, there is a level of censure and well responsibility for content....you don't have that on the internet. It is a wild wild west around here.
all true... everything is used for propaganda, including schools. Sadly, even universities too. It is really a marvel we still have some intelligent people in both philosophy and science areas... benefits of social media are quite questionable. I think for every benefit, there is an example or two in how this benefit is used for demerit. I wouldn't mind getting rid of social media to a large degree
Anyone want to buy some used brine? While it is not gamer girl bathwater, it did have my magnificent self in it.
