yaoi. as far as I know, it's simply a genre where two guys like each other.
it does not need to be sexualized nor does it need to contain kinks and pedophilia.

but some people just despise it so much that they will go crazy even if the word is mentioned.

I am wondering, what is the general degree of hate/like people have towards gay stuff.

so I was playing a game on mobile and just scrolling through the global chat when I saw people talking about yaoi.

there were 3 people who hated it so terribly they started dissing people as retarded and 9 year olds who liked disgusting sexualized anime gay love.
I fail to understand why they have to scold the people who were talking about bl to get out of the chat for calling it sexualized (when one of them had a nickname like "shrivelled foreskin")

someone else who said it was fine for the yaoi fans to talk about yaoi was shot down and labelled someone who supported pedophilia and rape.

this is just a rough estimate of what was happening because my memory is terrible and I had no screenshots.

they were initially dissing a person with a korean nickname and calling him/her a koreaboo, then someone talked about anine and was called a peekaboo, then boku no hero academia appeared and became fujoshi...

isn't yaoi more than just pedo and rape?

Not my cup of tea but I've got no problem with others liking it. Tho, I would like to be warned prior if they gonna be discussing it in public (esp. if it involves X-rated content) so that I can keep away.

As someone from the diametrically opposed side (yuri), i generally have no problem with it as long as it's not x-rated stuff jammed in my face (though that applies to a lot of things) with no warning.

Now, as for yaoi's reputation... well the stereotypical view of yaoi being all about rape probably has some truth to it, albeit very exaggerated, so there will always be people that see it as a plague or something to demean and scorn. stereotypes can be hard to ward off as well.

Some people, like me, just doesn't like the cringing rose colored dialog usually used to bait fujoshi. Be it boyXboy, girlXgirl, boyXgirl, girlXboy. Such sappy dialog for any media ranging from books to games is just no-no.

Well yaoi is technically porn (at least they usaly have sex) if you want the light stuff you go to shounen ai, but like a person who read mostly yaoi I have to say if they have a problem with yaoi then I say burn/destroy/ban thier porn and see how they like it.

Ah my first novel in this genre is True Star, back then I didn't know it was yaoi or it doesn't have yaoi tag, it's rather old story. I pleased with the story but when romance started towards male only I stop read it.:notlikeblob:
There's alo Black Butler fanfiction, I didn't watch the movie so I didn't know the protagonists gender, on my local language there's no gender specific pronouns for third person. It's copy cat of Twilight with Elf race theme, at one point I realize that story is BL and I'm not comfortable with it, but the story really entertained me and make me continue read with. To deal with romance I just imagined Ciel is girl.:blobowoevil:

Don't think so. I'm not 10. As an adult i have other serious issues that would trigger me like child abuse, someone ate my muffin or ineficient government.

I don't like yaoi but I don't hate on it, I've only read like two yaoi novels and prolly like 5 total yaoi manga. Oddly enough they were fairly explicit but I'm not into it like that. Even if it were a "normal" relationship manga or novel that were explicit, I would have a similar nonreaction to the sex.

I don't hate on anything anyone likes, I may not agree with some kinks (such as netorare or rape)
But if that's your jam, that's your jam. (so long as you aren't enacting a particular one IRL) live the freaky life you wanna live in whatever way you want to live it(as long as you aren't hurting people without their consent)

This just sounds like trolls and buttheads looking for a reason to mess with people, call them pedos for liking women so much and ignore them, NEVER feed a troll

I dont hate yaoi or yuri. It just that the if story it has more plot driven. The character have a sense purpose and character delevopment or the romance is actually well written. The charactere are not just to be there with a sign * we just gay characters that all*

As yaoi. Watched bannana fish.( he gay but has plot) it funny that most of them want fuck him.

As yuri. Watcher kobayashi or yuru yuri. Enjoyable it dint felt typical It layer of humour and bondship

I like yaoi, I do...but it's only been very recently I tried reading yaoi manga...and I don't particularly enjoy it. The drama is just criiinge~ also there's the fact that most yaoi manga I've seen have pure, innocent, naieve, etc etc mc's that are like damsels in distress just like bad shojou...it's been awhile since I actively read manga and watched anime though, so some of those things could have changed by now. Still, I prefer chinese light novel protagonists...most of the time haha!

As a straight male, I avoid yaoi as a genre as its just not my cup of tea. Gay relationships in novels don't bother me as long as they're done well (Warlock and his incubus from Practical Guide to Evil is a good example).

Yuri, on the other hand, is adorable.

*Looks for loves/addicted to yaoi* guess I'll go with likes yaoi. Well I used to read heterosexual romance novels and people had problem with that. Especially the older men they said it was a house porn. So there will always be people who are trolls or super judgy.

I understand. I like and read some and many times the comments made me feel creeped out  even though there was nothing I found creepy about the chapter itself. And I am female.

So, just to inform: Just because the talk is one way doesn't mean the story is the same way.

Those novels give me nausea and I despise them so I exclude the genre from my filter.
Not gonna bash those who like them or 1-star them though.
