Hey, so I read a lot of reviews on certain novels but there's some certain terms that I can't comprehend. For example, the term "HE". In the novel, Love in Another Life: My Gentle Tyrant, some people mentioned in their novels that this is a "HE" or that they're glad or relieved that this novel is a "HE". So, right now, I'm very confused on what "HE" means. Please help!!!
HE means Happy Ending, normally the person lives and also the love interest as well and they are together
...shouldn't it be GE (Good Ending)? Opposing to the BE (Bad Ending), good and bad, not happy and bad?
Good and Happy can be different. For example a "Good" ending can be hero wins then continue touring the world while oblivious to the FL's constantly dropped hints while a "Happy" ending has them married while touring the world.
It's just the slang the locals use that get carried over here, I think. For example, readers of Chinese webnovel raws are used to writing HE/OE/BE for Happy/Open/Bad Ends in the comments, and refer to pairings as "CP" (couple pairing) rather than "OTP" (one true pairing). There's also other regional carryovers like shou/gong, eating/giving dog food, white lotus, green tea, etc etc.
HE stands for Homo Erotic. It refers to gay and lesbian erotica that turns even straight people into homos.
