The last chapter I read was... 230+ FL has some political friends and allies. It turns out Gu Xiannuo (the eldest one I suppose) was once a disciple of Yongsheng Temple, and friend of the previous Yongsheng Temple's young master. The young master wanted to run away with his lover and became the temple's target {?} Gu Xinlang (ML) was sent by his mother to the temple with other nineteen children (they died, and Xinlang was the only one who survived) and Gu Xiannuo didn't know. He later confronted his mother after being told by the previous young master. I want to know what kind of 'horrible thing' that Gu Xinnuo was disgusted of. Did the temple torture people, killing the innocents, or what?
It's me again. I skipped so many chapters But I'm happy that they finally did the deeds *bowing to @KIMMY B . Well, it seems like the ML wasn't a human. But I don't know exactly what he is. But I do know he could summon serpents, etc...
My problem with it is that I have no idea how Xiaoxiao died in the first place. Sure I know that she blew herself up with a grenade, but she's so powerful that I can't see why she needed to carry a grenade in the first place. And by the end of the book she's so powerful I'm not sure if a grenade would be able to kill her in the first place. Also, if the upgraded humans are so powerful, what the hell are their zombies like?
Monsters with abilities of their own, I’m guessing. In one of the earlier chapters she mentions how she was too weak to even use her lightning against the zombie hordes before she died; I’m guessing she ran out of stamina somehow. And I think grenades are probably useful for scattering bits of sentient flesh when you can’t be bothered to physically zap/punch/kick them out of the way.
I've finished the book; Xiaoxiao's lightning powers and physical strength are just utterly ridiculous. Hell, she can use lightning to melt flesh long before she gets to full strength. A grenade is like a fancy firecracker compared to that. She's not even allowed to fight the main villain at the end because she's way too overpowered for him to be the slightest challenge.
Xiaoxiao's Lightning: sure being able to fry people to death is cool but RIP to those kind of lightnings because I'm different, I melt flesh
But was it a good ending, and did you have fun? Was it as rushed as UPX, and did all the loose ends + side characters/plots get resolved?
Well, Xiaoxiao (mostly) doesn't use her lightning on people. They're too weak to be much of a challenge and it's more fun to punch them anyways. It's a much more satisfying ending than Unruly Phoenix Xiaoyao. It's spoiled a bit because Xiaoxiao doesn't get to pound on the main villain and the writer has to invent a new crisis for her to deal with. It's crazy just how strong she gets by the time she gets to full strength though. It's like a superhero dropped into a story populated with regular people. The story does a pretty good job of wrapping up the loose ends by the end too.
Welp I did the thing. Expect updates to be sporadic, but feel free to drop by with comments! XP https://www.novelupdates.com/series/heroic-wife-reborn/
Yup, it's explicitly mentioned that she ran out of stamina, which was why she was forced to use an 'antitank grenade' to suicide along with the zombies. Otherwise she would have just zapped them out of existence lol. It takes her a while to regain her abilities, so that's why the Zhao concubine lady isn't killed in the beginning of the novel but ends up having a tree branch zapped onto her and so on.
By the way guys, I didn't mention it before, but this series also has an audiobook (in Chinese, of course). I've put the link in the table of contents page, it's not bad! ^-^ https://shuguitranslations.org/heroic-wife-reborn/
What is the ending of that woman named Qingyu? She is the one who try climbing up the ML bed and framed the MC of splashing the ML medicine on her face blobunamused: Though all it did was ruin her makeup~) @ToastedRossi @Jevanka926
