...did I ever mention I got 20 years in the Army? When I joined my unit, the OC told us we had an operational history loss of about 50%. It's something we just take in stride but telling people to suicide ram a WHOLE FUCKING UNIT for 100% losses is way beyond reasonable orders especially if it is a REMF telling you to do stupid shit. Unless you totally mind condition the hundred thousand or more people manning the fleet for you in a manner even David Korash would love, you WILL get dissent, there is no army where everyone agrees on every single thing like a hivemind. This kind of thing is what causes incidents like "fragging the officer" or "friendly fire" or "saluting someone in a sniper zone". The story totally treats people like brainless drones that can't see "Oh our flight path is going to end in the same position as a planetary body, that can't be good..."

It totally treats soldiers as brainless order following robots. Which leads to "interesting" things like soldier revolts and mutinies.

0.5 cal anti-material bullet but it's still very experimental and tempermental and definitely not in common use. And in common usage, a heavy machine gun does not need much accuracy when you plaster an entire area into a beaten zone. It's more intended for snipers and even then potential usage is limited.

Though to be really fair, bullets curve all the time :) it's just script writers don't point it out. It's called "droppage" and is because of gravity. At 300m, a bullet will drop by about 14 inches from an aimed straight line and if you fired at something far away, by the time the bullet reaches the target, it would actually be flying sideways with the nose pointing down. So when it hits, it's actually the bullet going through sideways through the body, not nice.

If it's too powerful, people will start asking for them to ban the gun instead of nerfing it... oh wait, wrong topic. :p

Back to ridiculous premises, why do Chinese Xianxia always have their ancestors bury all the good stuff in tombs like chipmunks hording nuts? If the items are so OPed that they can overturn someone's "fate", why bury it 6 feet underground as opposed to using it for your family instead of burying it in some forsaken out of the way place for some stranger to loot?

If you don't have heirs, you leave your legacy in a tomb as a challenge to others. Whoever conquers it becomes your inheritor. "Fate".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myth_of_the_flat_Earth I have to say the flat Earth thing is completely and utterly wrong. The heliocentric model is less people being stupid and more people not being able to tell the differences easily enough due to a simple lack of records and technology. If they had both before Nicholas Copernicus was born it's likely that the belief would be very different! Plus not even every country believed this I'm pretty sure!
I knew they were going to be actual true stories as soon as you posted this! Of course the US would do this, they are the motherfucking money spammers!

To be fair to them, the only time you'll know that psychics don't work is only after you tested them out. Otherwise how else would you know they are frauds?

If they leave powerful artifacts to their family, the artifacts will likely invite all sorts of trouble. It's only yours if you can hold onto it. Haven't you read in novels where families or even the protagonist himself were attacked because they possessed powerful artifacts or treasures? 匹夫无罪,怀璧其罪。
